He may be a better guy than people think. My beef with him is his comment that he is not a film guy. He might play better if he was. He came from a small program at Miami of Ohio and they may have let him slide.

I played safety in Division l and we watched a ton of film every week.

I am hoping he is and I hope he has learned from his past mistakes / aka - the rape allegations.

I agree. I also played some safety (not division 1) and we had a lot of film study too. You need to know and study your opponent, and, more importantly, know and study yourself.

It's hard to figure out your reads without watching film. Sometimes teams give great cues that you only pick up on film.

If it was only one time, then so be it. But every and I mean EVERY injury he has is amplified to being one breath from death. There is no doubt that there is usually some kind of injury involved (I really don't think he is THAT desperate for attention, is he?), but not to the extent that he and others would want us to believe.
How much of that is from Roethlisberger and how much is the media? Like him or not, he is one of the gang of six elite QB's in the game. He along with both Mannings, Brady, Rogers and Brees are the only six starting QB's who have both superbowl rings and stats to go along with them. It is only natural that the media makes a big deal out of every injury that any of them are involved in. Roethlisberger's style of play is such that he is more prone to injury than the rest. Imagine the headlines if Brady or Manning had the same issues. It just last year that on a weekly basis we heard about every little movement Peyton Manning could make for an entire season. If he could toss a tissue into the trash it was a big deal. It's a fine line between embellishment of injuries vs. being a professional and a tough player and playing through injury. If you like the guy, he's a tough guy playing through pain. If you don't like him, he's just a drama queen hamming it up for the cameras. Look at Ed Reed. How many times has he limped off to the sidelines after attempting to make a tackle and getting dragged for 10 yards? Was he hurt, or was his pride hurt? Depends on whether you like him or not. Personally, I believe them both. Both Reed and Roethlisberger are competitive players who probably do play through a lot of pain. But on all of these matters I will defer to the medical teams. If they can't clear a guy to play, then I figure his injuries are legitimate.

The idea that Ben would sit out three key games to create drama does not make any sense. If he could have played he would have been in there.

It has to do with professionalism, not heroism.

Maybe this is the real reason he was off for three weeks:

That, and the fact the Steelers were playing the Ravens for two of those games. What percentage of missed Ravens games has he had lately?
He's 9-4 v Ravens I think. Why would he not want to play against them?

For what it's worth, I agree he exaggerates his injuries. On the other hand he has had a lot of them.

He should do what the rest of the team does and not discuss his injuries because no matter what he says he will be criticized.

When Troy is asked about his injuries he refers them to coach Tomlin.

I am a big fan of Roethlisberger, when he is on the field. He wants to talk about his injuries or not, makes no difference to me. I don't delude myself that everyone on my team is an alter boy and everyone on the opponent's team is the devil incarnate.

It's not like I'm having any of them over for dinner!

Exactly. It is a game and a sports team, not a family or friend.

Some have admirable qualities, some not.

I like the stories about the Pouncy boys taking in Rainey and helping to raise him. Good stuff.

I would invite Charley Batch for dinner.

This is basically my stand too. I was asking the question about Roethlisberger and his games against the Ravens because it seems he has missed a lot in recent years (I am too lazy to actually look it up, and just going with my memory - and that has gotten me in trouble before. ). He may be 9-4, but I believe most of those wins came early. He hasn't even played many games against the Ravens in recent years (Last year he played two I think).

Yawn............ Cletus is like a child who believes if he repeats something over and over it will make it true.
