One does have to wonder. What would our friendly tea pary libertarians, propose we do to rectify this problem. Cutting taxes has proven time and time again to not work, nobody is going to touch any third rails, and thankfully we're not going to be using gold bullion to barter for goods any time soon.

    So, what say you?

Oh, and it's Littleton Mobile Estates, not Loveland. Dolt.

JD Sample ye are not. It is by the grace of DSummoner that ye made it as far as Loveland (don't make me make ye go to Elbert County)

The weight of the third rails (aka metastatic cancers) will be the fiscal end of this country. You and your leader either have the chance to deal with it now or foreigners 'who will not tolerate' your eating of as many cream filled sponge cakes of questionable production as you want while running the heater all day long while clutching ya'r Bon Jovi posters as much as you want will end it for you. One would rather see the fiscal cliff materialize along with the CBO's alternative scenario than the fiscal enslavement and lynching of a minority group.

Please. Class warfare rhetoric is nothing more than red meat for his base. He needs to figure out that the election is over.

Hopefully Obama lets the cliff, gentle slope, take place we can get taxes and funding on a better trajectory than it went during the first 8 years of this century.

Again if some of you think your taxes are not enough send a check to the United States Government as a donation.
    My children are my legacy.

The alternative scenario is what one is shooting for (and given the CBO it is the more likely of the two outcomes).

wow, the presidents want to raise a whole $160 Billion dollars a year in tax revenue...that's budget dust...some people ought to try doing the math first....

and for those of you, like mom, you can't be bothered to look things up, here is the link to the suppressed Congressional Research Service, a very non-partisan organization that belongs to the Library of Congress. It debunks trickle down economics and pissed off many on the right to the point where the report was never really made public....however, the CRS had already put the report out on the web and some news services saved it on their site...http://graphics8.nytimes.com/news/bu...andeconomy.pdf...

and the CBO also reached the same conclusions...and the CBO is also a non-partisan organization....

    happy reading....

Elections have consequences and one of them is increased leverage.

Just keep saying "Cut Spending" with no real plan and blame welfare. That's the road to deficit reduction.

It's amazing that they won't accept even a small tax increase even while Dems are willing to cut spending

This is where I will ask links for the spending cuts proposed by Obama.

I totally agree that the only way to reduce the deficit is a combination of spending cuts and tax increases

Dems only talk about tax increases
Repubs only talk about spending cuts.

Simply, show me the proposed cuts.

Revenue is not the problem. The rich couldn't possibly pay for the unmitigated greed that progressive policy represents. So if he wants a recession to prove his incompetence then so be it. Just don't anyone pretend he is being smart or reasonable anything more than a hard core reactionary.
Would you mind pointing to the increased "progressive policy" spending that has been instituted by the Obama administrtion?

These responses are typical of why nothing has been done on our budget crisis. The President has not said a word about resisting spending cuts, and yet we hear the same tired catch phrases from the right -- and discussions have barely begun.

The spending cuts have already been agreed upon by both parties. Republicans want to stop the Defense spending cuts that happen at the end of the year.

The republicans also want to stop the automatic tax increases.

They aren't serious about deficit reduction

Oh good, oversimplified response #137. What federal taxes have increased during the last 4 years? Or, do you just parrot this nonsense without thinking about it?
