I totally missed hearing the story when it broke last month. Funny how the Sun didn't even mention the fact that this guy came from a famous family (his parents were Old Hollywood director John Farrow, his mother Old Hollywood star Maureen O'Sullivan (best known for being "Jane" in the old Tarzan movies, also in the first "The Thin Man" film)....which means his sister was/is Mia Farrow. All the other media sources I found for this story mentioned the Mia Farrow's brother angle....some even putting it in the headline.

An ironic note here is the fact that in 1992, this creep was accusing Woody Allen of child molestation in the media (not of Soon-Yi, the teen who later became Allen's wife, but a very young other child)! These were charges raised in Mia's custody battle, charges that were never substantiated, and thrown out. Kind of reminds me of seemingly homophobic politicians who later turn out to be the very thing they railed against....

Why would that be important? His sister has nothing to do with his crimes.

Well, it's not really about why it would or wouldn't be important, it's about why isn't the Sun doing what every single other news source did. Theoretically, I think I tend to agree with you...this isn't like Jerry Sandusky, where the accused's position and relation to something important ties into the crime.....it doesn't appear that Mia figures into the crimes, so one could say that perhaps it's not "important". But that doesn't change the fact that this detail IS a detail that tends to be reported.....that's just the way it is. In fact, oftentimes it is not only reported, but is the LEAD. Here is but a small sampling of various media reports from when the story first broke...I've pasted the headlines of the stories below. I didn't write these articles, reporters did:

Mia Farrow's Brother John Charles Villiers-Farrow Arrested In Maryland On Child Sex Abuse Charges

Brother of Mia Farrow Accused of Child Sex Abuse

Mia Farrow's brother 'sexually abused and assaulted two children between 2000 and 2008 – and there could be MORE victims'

Mia Farrow's brother charged with child sex abuse

Mia Farrow's brother charged in Maryland with sexually abusing several children

And then there is the Sun headline: Edgewater man accused of sexually abusing two boys

The Sun headline is strikingly different from all the others....the Sun didn't even mention his famous family connection anywhere in the story. Personally, I just found that a bit odd, given everybody else did. That's all I was trying to say.
