Angry Defense lawyers say BP rig workers are scapegoats

While BP has resolved a sweeping criminal probe of its role in the massive 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, two company employees charged in the deaths of 11 rig workers claim the Justice Department is trying to make them scapegoats for the disaster.

Did BP profit by oil leaks?

Did BP revel in the chance to dump its precious oil all over the ocean?

So you look at this disaster and its horrible affect on the Gulf and people who rely on the Gulf for their livelihood, and your big question if did BP profit by this?

And yeah, in a sense they did profit. Their complete lack of any real investment in developing better safety and deep water leak containment measures over the years surely contributed to their bottom line. The methods employed to contain this were the same as those that were used 40 years ago. Gonna guess their drilling methods have changed pretty dramatically since then, but of course they investing money in those improvements.
