Default Ohio resists Federal takeover of their health insurance...

...by letting the Feds takeover their health insurance:

The statement outlining Kasich's decision includes a bold heading that says, "Ohio will not let the federal government take over any regulatory control of its insurance industry." But that's exactly what Kasich's decision does.

Although insurance will still be regulated primarily at the state level, the federal government will now have total control over all the functions of Ohio's exchange, such as the number of plans that can participate and whether to impose requirements above and beyond those spelled out in the law.

Despite the threat of greater federal involvement, GOP governors are under pressure from conservatives to reject state-run exchanges.

I think a lot of states are going to bank of the federal option. Not because they oppose the ACA but because it might seem the path of least resistance to them. I'm not sure what the advantages or disadvantages of letting the fed set up an exchange in your state- probably lose some federal funding, I imagine - but in some states it might still be worth letting the feds do it. Also, that way, local politicians maintain plausable deniability in case of a crash and burn.

I agree. I just think it doesn't make sense for them to claim that they are defying the Federal government when all they're doing is giving up their right to set up their own exchanges...

They're just making some type of symbolic gesture to their base... not very good leadership.

They'll probably be rejecting the Medicaid expansion portion also which the Supreme Court made optional to the states for covering new Medicaid enrollees and which provides ample funding for the states to do so. But that's another issue.

You tell them, Bud. That was some next-level commentary.

Just repeating the predictable response from liberals when it comes to anyone who disagrees with the king.
