Default Maryland Democrats nominate former crack dealer who took part in a gun battle!

Please pray for the victim in this tragic crime. I am sure there must be somebody better for this position.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/...531_story.html

"Two decades ago, Gregory A. Hall was a 21-year-old crack dealer who took part in a gun battle that killed a seventh-grade honors student as he and his family left a church service in Capitol Heights.

Hall, now a businessman and former Prince George’s County Council aide, is the nominee to replace suspended Prince George’s County lawmaker Tiffany Alston in Maryland’s House of Delegates. County Democrats named him to finish Alston’s term, which ends in January 2015."

I get what you're saying, but this guys issues date 92, 94, 2004..

Sure people can change, and maybe this guy has, but can't we get folks who have not been involved in killings, guns in cars, drug possesion, sketchy car dealings, tax issues...(always someone elses fault, of course)

I guess if theres no one clean thats running they're stuck with what they've got but damn...

I'm inclined to agree with you... This stuff isn't ancient history. He's still dealing with his tax issues too.

And I understand how maybe his experiences would give him an insight as to steering young people away from the self inflicted BS he's dealing with, but just as valuable (even moreso maybe) would be a guy thats lived a relatively clean life. No ex-thugs available? Thats sad.

It really does make you wonder if there are any decent people in the county that could fill the post. What percentage of officials in PG county have been charged in the last five years or have a criminal record?

Morally I don't see any distinction between this mans actions and those of the actual shooter of the child. The two thugs were engaged in a running gunfight on a public street.

Tiffany ain't gone yet...seems like she got to O'Malley...

Former Md. delegate Alston meets with O’Malley in bid to get her job back

By Ann E. Marimow and John Wagner, Published: November 14

It seems that Tiffany Alston, the former Prince George’s County delegate, is choosing diplomacy over litigation — at least for now — in her quest to get her old job back in Annapolis.

Alston, who was removed from state office last month, met privately on Wednesday with Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley (D) to press her case that she should be reinstated...

O’Malley asks Prince George’s Dems to withdraw delegate nominee

By Miranda S. Spivack, Saturday, November 17, 2:34 PM

Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley has asked Prince George’s County Democrats to withdraw the name of businessman Greg Hall to replace Tiffany Alston in the House of Delegates until the state’s attorney general rules on whether the seat is actually vacant.

In a letter to the Prince George’s County Democratic Central Committee late Friday, O’Malley (D) said he was seeking more legal advice on the status of the seat. A spokeswoman for the governor said it was not a reflection on Hall, but it simply allows the state’s attorney general time to review the ruling....

Wasn't this the same woman that was caught driving to Annapolis on a suspended license?

I wasn't asked about him being in a gun battle. I was asked how I'd feel if he'd gunned down my 7th grader. So I ask, where does it say he did?
