How many politicians actually have a squeaky clean background. Granted most of them weren't former drug dealers, but still. I don't live there so I don't have a dog in this fight, but I would think a former criminal turning his life around would be a positive thing for society.

Hundreds of thousands of PG residents have squeaky clean records and have always lived honorably. While I'm happy that this former drug dealer seems to have turned his life around, as you say, I find it hard to believe that making someone a delegate who has a history of making poor decisions is in our best interests. Perhaps I am naive in thinking that we would be better off with a "Mr. Smith goes to Annapolis".

The reality is he almost won the seat anyway and wasn't turning away from crime a good decision?

Ken, let’s be straight about this, the man is black. Different strokes for different folks. God forgives; the good ole boys only forgive club members.

That is the way it is.

You may have a point, GWB made poor decisions his whole entire life, he bankrupt a few companies, fu Iraq. Bankrupt the USA, and the American people elected that pos twice. Point well taken.

Most black men only get one chance, one strike and you are out; moreover, this forum proves it everday.

The good old boys must be the Dems because you won't find a Single republican that ever forgave Teddy for Chappaquiddick.

Myself, if this guy was black white or purple I would be outraged that he was appointed as my represenatative.
Now if this guy was a white meth head who was in a gun battle where a 7th grade black honor student was killed I KNOW the minorities on this board would be outraged at his appointment but then again that's to be expected since the only racists left in this country seem to be minorities these days.
I voted for Obama again BTW, but I will call a spade a spade when it comes to racist hypocrites.

Again O'Malley's support for the illegal alien Dream Act shows he has no regard for the law nor does he care when someone does illegal things.

Does everything have a tie-in to the dream act?

But then, so did Larry Young.

I wouldn't put much stock in the moral purity of talk-radio hosts.

Takes a lot for the liberal Maryland senate to expell a fellow democrat for ethics violations. Richard Nixon was never convicted of anything so I guess he wasn't crooked either, Just sayin

Nice try? Im saying you don't have to actually be convicted to have been a crooked scumbag. Nixon resigned and Young was thrown out (only MD senator ever expelled in over 225 years) neither were convicted so whats the diffrence?

Tiffany Alston has brass cojones, stealing from the State and then asking to be restored to the House of Delegates as if nothing happened.
Wonder what -- or how much -- persuaded the judge to overturn a jury verdict and change it to PBJ.
Alston, Sheila Dixon == they still have eyes on offices they disgraced.

Comes now Gregory Hall, just a PG businessman looking for a leg up in politix. With his record???? Come on.

And across the border, in AACO, we a county councilman who can't remember to pay his taxes, going to the slammer and then having the gall to think he should get his Council seat back.

Have none of these any shame at all????

The difference is white convicted criminals get radio shows, black convicted criminals who turn their life around are still treated like criminals, per this thread
