Don't know whether to believe, or look at this as a hoax?

Makes sense from a financial standpoint for the Terps.

If they leave the ACC, I don't know that I'll be able to muster up any enthusiasm for the Terps anymore. It would feel like a different world.

As are most things, it's about the $$.

The BiG is the richest conference, by far, and joining would mean bigger pay days than what they currently enjoy in the ACC.

As a BiG fan, I would have preferred ND, Texas or Oklahoma. But this interest in Md does make sense to the BiG. If you are a football fan, it would be fun to renew the Maryland - Penn State series. Nebraska or OSU coming to town would paint the place in RED.

If one looks at this strictly as a revenue decision, basketball really doesn't factor into the equation. For the most part, win or lose, COMCAST is full on game night (at least for any meaningful game). The problem is the 1,000's and 1,000's of empty seats for football. If the Terps were to regularly play the likes of PSU, OSU, Michigan or Nebraska....the stadium would be full regardless of whether any Terp fans attended!

Last year, the bottom programs in the BiG, that neither went to a bowl game nor to the NCAA dance....still got a cool $22 mil from the BiG revenue sharing. The ACC can't touch those numbers.

Like it or not, D1 college sports is big business these days.

I wonder how many years it will take to have a lead in a game.

    Disagree.

In basketball, the Terps would contend most years, and in football, there are a number of other programs that are worse than Md. I doubt they would be the new door mat. The Big, while better than the ACC in football, is not the BiG of the 50's and 60's where they dominated college football. Michigan has struggled. OSU is beatable and PSU is not eligible for 3 more seasons.

Kevin Anderson is a piece of crap.

No ACC loyalty and no MD loyalty.

The lack of lacrosse teams in the Big Ten should be enough of a reason to deep six this idea.

Four men's lacrosse teams in the ACC and six women. Syracuse and Notre Dame would have made it six men and eight women.

That would be awesome! Do it MD!

    ACC is booorrrrriiiiinnnngggg!

Big 10 has much better football and yes, much better basketball.

I would love to see MD ditch those hicks and their stupid looking Beiber students with their lame ties and shorts in the rear view mirror!

    what they're saying...

Would Maryland and Rutgers joining the Big Ten Conference be enough for the league to consider sponsoring men's lacrosse? With Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State serving as the league's lacrosse consciousness -- and Minnesota considering enlightment -- the Big Ten, with the additional members, could have the momentum necessary to platform the game and get an automatic bid for its league. This would lighten the superconference bloating in the ECAC and THUNDERDOME!, allowing Big East members a clear approach to continuing their efforts in sanctioned conferences.

ATTENTION MICHIGAN STATE: This is your chance to get your act back together and play with the fancy folk. Elevate.

The ACC will go from being a deathray with an automatic invitation to the NCAA Tournament to a five-team Gatling gun. The league will still be very good, but all members will need to qualify at an at-large basis for May. This may or may not be a more difficult proposition in the future, what with the potential death of the Big East and the potential inclusion of the Big Ten should the league pursue that option.

Interesting. That was not what I was reading on twitter.

Some were claiming that Maryland would stay ACC for Lax.
