Default Seven Killed in two area car accidents this weekend

    http://www.baltimoresun.com/explore/...,5752516.story

I think we all need to show this to our teens

I feel terrible for the families

Three people were killed and two seriously injured shortly before midnight Saturday in a single-car crash in Street in which the car was severed into multiple pieces.

The accident happened around 11:22 p.m., according Cpl. Dudek of the Maryland State Police.

Killed were two males and one female. Another male and female were flown to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, according to a press release from Maryland State Police. As of early this morning, troopers are still attempting to locate and notify family members of the victims, who appear to have been friends, according to the release. Their ages range from late teens to early 20s from Harford and Baltimore counties, according to the release.

Geez ! How fast was that car driving !?
And how did 2 people survive that ?
If one of the survivors is the driver he will be looking at some serious charges.

It wasn't too long ago that another similar accident happened here in Harford County on Rt 543.

Wow... The article says that the damage was so severe, state troopers couldn't determine if the occupants were wearing a seatbelt!!!

Due to the severe vehicle damage, troopers have been unable to determine if the occupants were wearing seatbelts, the release said.
Jeeze... This car must've been driving real fast for the car to be found split into two pieces by emergency personnel, the other half "about 100 feet" from the first half:

When troopers and EMS personnel arrived, they found a passenger car that was broken into two pieces.

One half of the vehicle had fallen into a deep ravine and was about 100 feet from the other half of the car.
And these are young people, sad:

Killed were the driver of the Mazda 3, Tyler G. Anderson, 21, of Jarrettsville, and passengers Shawn R. Ponton, 21, of Jarrettsville, and Alexzandria O. McDowell, 20, of Street, according to a news release from Maryland State Police.

Flown to Maryland Shock Trauma by Medevac helicopter were Theresa M. Owensby, 19, of Bel Air, and David E. Clark, 21, of Street.

The surviving girl is a very good friend of our family. We lived next door to them for many years, and she was born 11 days after my daughter. They have been friends, literally, their entire lives. She, and her family, needs your prayers.

I understand this one happened when one car tried to pass another in no passing area, resulting in a head on

Ugh. I just saw that. Seven from two accidents? What a terrible weekend.

Hold you kids tight and tell them ALL how dangerous our roads are. Almost 100% of this is avoidable if people follow just basic safety rules.

The last we had heard, Theresa had spent a long day in surgery. Lots of broken bones, but no head trauma. I imagine she has a long long road to recovery, both physically and emotionally. Its been a gloomy day in our house, I can't even imagine what her mom, dad and sister were going through.

Glad to hear that she survived this horrific accident with no head trauma, I hope she will recover both emotionally and physically from this. Her and her family are in my thoughts and prayers for a hopefully good recovery.

The drivers facebook has pictures of him racing in the same Mazda 3 except with a helmet on. Also he posted pictures of aftermarket parts. He said a few weeks ago "Im faster than you around a circuit...come autocross and show me up!" Tragedy

So what you're saying is you believe this was a case of speeding? The deputies still haven't deemed this a speeding case.

Just as 6-7 months ago I was charged with 18 different charges. 6 of them felonies. I was given a bond of 1 million dollars but later reduced to $500,000. After getting a lawyer for $19,000 I was later found innocent of all charges by an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) at the MVA. The prosecution later postponed the case against me because the evidence they have wasn't strong what-so-ever. Here I am having paid close to $80,000 and my charges will be dropped either this week or next week according to the State. I was slandered here at my work.....on the news.....and on the radio. Before you judge someone or the situations get the FACTS. So if I had a facebook picture of me holding a gun playfully I guess I would be assumed to have shot someone?

I am sorry that you had legal problems. If you were innocent, at least the system worked. Those sound like serious charges.

But YES. My brain can easily figure out that this young man was speeding.

All of us have exceeded the speed limit. That does not make him evil. But it sounds like he was reckless and that the others took a risk driving with him.
    Very very sad.

That is a very narrow road. I have heard of many cases where brake calipers fail are one example. I just don't feel it's fair to jump to any conclusions at any point. It's not fair to the family or the driver of the vehicle.

Yes....the charges were very serious. I was facing a maximum of 280 years in prison and the system wanted 10 years. Thank you for programs like Project Innocence.

The Headline: Police say speed being considered as cause of Street crash that killed three
Two others hurt as car hits tree and splits in half; parts found 100 feet apart

I think the speed limit on Prospect Road is 40 MPH. Do you think it's possible that a car split in two and the parts separated by 100 feet without exceeding that speed?

Hope you get some sort of compensation due to the false charges.

40 MPH simply would not do that to a car. Maybe in a head on.
