see what happens when you develop a good farm system.

I've been hearing that Meyer is good. but everyone agrees it was a nice deal for both clubs.

FWIW, most folks see this trade as a signal that LaRoche won't be brought back. Morse to 1B is the general consesus at this point.

Morse for James Shields? Man, that would be a pretty serious rotation.

if that happens, I officially hate the Nats for getting the two players I coveted for the O's

I was listening to 980 at lunch, and for the most part the dc media is a joke when talking about baseball except for thom loverro, he is a baseball first guy, he said that they might let laroche go and trade morse, because 1b is tyler moore's natural posistion, morse is on the last year of his deal, so he might be traded to bolster the farm pitching or to get a 5th starter.

I would love to see Orioles move on from Reynolds...he is one dimensional and unbelievably streaky. Just get rid of him and sign LaRoche to 3 years. LaRoche is not that old and is every bit as good, if not better, at 1st base than Reynolds. I am sure Adam would be very open to playing for Orioles now.

Keep Davis as DH...he was great in that role.

not the part about him being a bottom feeder, but how that was a positive factor in bringing in the 2 FAs you mentioned.

the reason I ask, is because I can't see a connection between the two.
In both circumstances Angelos waited until he was the 2AM choice for both guys. That's usually a recipe for failure but every once in awhile table scraps can still be desirable. It does not mean they won't give you a bellyache later though.

Sometimes I think we all project more into what other's words are when we read comments herein. My comments were not meant to commend Pete. But I also do not embrace the spend all the money now philosophy so many fans have either. Like so many things in life, it's all about timing, constraint and good judgment on a case by case basis.

I understand, and I agree with your subsequent comments here. I admit that I've projected things into comments on the board. in this case, I didn't think you were commending PGA. I just wasn't catching on to what you meant
