    Default So who's next?

Delaney won't be stopping at 14.

8 member divisions, based primarily on geography, would alleviate much of the concern about travel/distances Might they look something like this? :

    Legend:
    - Maryland
    - Rutgers
    - VaTech
    - Va
    - PSU (2 hr drive from CP)
    - OSU (5- 6 hr drive from CP)
    - Purdue (9 hr drive from CP)
    - Indiana (9+ hr drive from CP)

    Leaders:
    - Michigan
    - MSU
    - Nebraska
    - Minny
    - Northwestern
    - Iowa
    - Wisc
    - Illinois

Both divisions would be fairly balanced in terms of football.

    I agree about Missouri.

I think Delaney's plan is to move East, not West. Besides, the ACC is already de-stabalized right now, and would be a lot easier to poach another ACC team.

ND is going no where so long as they have their lucrative NBC contract. The fact that they are on a high, right now, means NBC is going to continue with that contract.

That would be preferable, since they add nothing to football and basketball, and with Md in the BiG, the local DC-Baltimore market is already met. Next.

But why do you even care? Really. Per your own comment, you pissed, or were going to "piss on all your Maryland memorabilia", down in your NC trailer park.

Go root for Dook, or one of the other NC state teams. Enjoy the Big East Light.

It's not a moment of enjoyment for me, it's a moment of sadness.

You've demonstrated a bit of objective intelligence on the Nationals board.

    And none here.

You mean like Wisconsin, OSU, Minnesota, Michigan or Northwestern? LOL. Clueless. You need to get out more. Oh, and last time I was in rural Va to visit UVa and/ or VaTech...plenty of cow pastures. Fail, again.

My last post of the evening, to you:

Your screen name says volumes about who you are. "Kudzu" - an invasive, non indigenous weed like vine that threatens to overgrow all native plants in the South East.

By your own proclamation, of your intent to "piss on your Maryland memorabilia", you have demonstrated that you are nothing more than a childish little man, and most certainly, no fan of Maryland. Enjoy your hillbilly neighbors in NC.

An invasive weed that's impossible to eradicate. Learn your herbology.

Coming to your Pig 10 Area soon, btw.

Yeah, with the Chicago, Minneapolis, Detroit, Milwaukee, metro DC and NYC markets locked up the final piece to the puzzle for the BIG 10 is Charlottesville, VA.

If they get that they can probably get Bojanges as a corporate sponsor.

it is a little odd the bean counters running the 'super conferences' are running after such a short-sighted goal of cable markets.

cable is going to die (albeit slowly). internet TV all the way.

people already loathe their cable bill. let the 20-somethings become the buyers in households in the next few years. it's already happening, but it's going to pick up steam soon enough.

Live sports will still have an audience on big screen TV's for a long while yet. About the original post. I think the B1G does have interest in either UVA or Tech but not both. They are looking at UNC closely, but expansion in the B1G isnt done. Rumor is they already have offers out to UVA and UNC.

I don't see UVA and UNC going to B1G unless VPI and State can find a home in SEC. Politics at work...

Nick Sabin said in an interview, a while back, that he thinks that only the super-conferences will be around in a few years. I would agree with that, and say 16 teams seems to be the magic number. The SEC/BiG will match the other's number, and have to believe FSU and Clemson would love to join the SEC. As the ACC continues to unravel, the model seems to be to replace departing ACC teams with Big East teams, aka, ACC = Big East Light. Maybe VaTech will be next? They have no ACC history/tradition to speak of...or for that matter, no longstanding ACC rival....so they are ripe to jump.

I think Maryland is out in front of the trend....Good for them.

UVA is the Best public University in the country, simpleton.

Who the F cares WHERE the education happens, as long as it's comprehensive ?

I mean, other than you ?

    Wrong, again.

In undergraduate, that would be my alma - Cal....followed by UCLA.

But undergraduate Rankings change yearly. The top 5, on any given year, are: Cal, UCLA, Michigan, UVa and UNC. UVa is only ranked as high as they are, because they simply have a much smaller class size - smaller than any of the public schools mentioned, previously.

At the graduate level, UVa is out of the top 10 in most departments. In the engineering and science disciplines, UVa is a joke. Cal and Michigan take top public honors in most depts.

I heard both UVA and UNC once referred to as boutique, liberal arts, public ivies. Anyway, I have childhood friends who have degrees from those two schools. Complete a-holes.
