Keep in mind that if Westminster had played Gilman it would have been during the MIAA's fair weather schedule unless they were playing them in basketball. The MIAA plays basketball games when its freezing and the wind is howling but not football. I like Westminsters chances v Gilman on the MIAA's fair weather terms. To win a state championship in MD you need to have a foul weather attack plan just in case. Maybe thats why a team that throws the ball 50 times a game has never won a state championship.

Even though I touted Westminster all season I along with several others said earlier that the big question mark would be how their passing offense translated into late November. It looks like it definitely slowed them down but I don't want to take anything from QO's defense because they've been stout all season. If they were going to stay in the game with a powerhouse like Gilman they'd definitely need a fair weather day.

But if Westminster could hang with them on a fair weather day, then you would have to assume that Wise could hang with them on any day. Personally, I think Wise would be too fast for them.

Even though it might have been windy the the day, the temps where around 58 during the game. Not a bad weather day. Just an excuse for losing. They lost because they were a hyped team.

Gilman would beat the hell out of Westminster because they are just a better team in all facets of the game. And unlike with the one troll said above, they would also beat Wise pretty easily. Funny when people talk and have no clue what they are talking about. Too much speed for Gilman, hahaha. Gilman a team that has NATIONAL track studs on their squad, lol!

football knowledge, i'm so so but track is my thing. who are the national gilman studs you're talking about because the publics, particularly a small area of pg, own the marks to the best of my recollection in track with darby (potomac) in the 100, winters (suitland) in the 200, page (wise) in the 400. potomac i think has the mark in the 4x100 and i also believe they were the best US team that came in 4th at the penn relays last year behind 3 jamacian teams. wise again has the mark in the 4x200. i think gt prep has the 4x400 and gilman may have the 4x800 but i don't call the 800 a sprint. and this is outdoor i'm talking about for now.

You are talking last year and Gilman did have the fastest time in the 4x800(i believe 3rd fastest in the country and I believe state record last year). I'm talking this year and players that play football. Outside of Darby, those other guys didn't play football. Suitland has a serious speedster on their team in Jacobs. One of the fastest returning 400 guys in the state is Jabri McClean(a 47 second guy) and Gilman football player. But the fastest of them all is probably 9th grader Dorian Maddox of Gilman, who has set hurdles records for years. He only came in 4th this past national youth championships at Morgan because he almost fell in the finals.

Point is, Gilman has standout track guys even on their defensive line like Melvin Keihn. Who at 220 pounds runs a 4.5 and came in third in the MIAA 110 hurdles. So saying Wise would be too fast for Gilman is asinine and comes from someone who has a clear agenda.

Oh my gosh he has an agenda! Do you think it is to shout everyone done and demean Everyone that does not drink the Gilman cool aid.

maybe in your haste to respond you didn't see where i said gilman may have the mark in the 4x800 but i didn't consider 800 legs sprints. it's more of a strength run to me but i don't need to split hairs. regarding the guys and teams i named, the potomac 4x100 team was darby, dondre echols, tavon young, and joshua thorne. darby i need not say any more other than everyone would know he played football and ran track. tavon young who tranfered to potomac his senior year from douglass played football and is playing for temple this season as a true freshman. dondre echols is the true track guy who played football and got his college ride to south carolina to run track. joshua thorne played football and was a linebacker and edge rusher and is at hampton u on the football team but he ran somewhere in the 4.5 range as a big guy and hurdles like your guy and was second to echols who has the md mark in the 55 hurdles. that a big man moving and getting it up just as well if not better than your big guy. right now, your gilman boys can't touch that pocket of speedsters in pg. i know you are a gilman guy who think everyone else in every endeavor is second to gilman but the facts are facts, the public schools are head and shoulders better than anything you had or may have in the privates regarding pure across the board speed.

those in the track know know of david winters of suitland. yeah you heard of the jacobs boys who ran/run track but winters only started running a year and half or so ago and he is already a top maryland speed guy. i see you want to talk track and football now but track season for this year has yet to start so that's why i talked about last season. suitland and wise are schools who battled and torched the track last year when many think roosevelt is the track power. wise has some little runningbacks but they are flat out burners you will hear about come track season when it starts and those boys are done with football.

    Lol!

    Pot, meet kettle.

    • Gilman is the best defense of all time.
    • Gilman should always be ranked #1.
    • Gilman players are faster, stronger, bigger, smarter, etc.
    • The MIAA doesn't deserve Gilman, they are so head-and-shoulder better than everyone else.
    • If a player didn't play for Gilman, he is clearly not a monster, a beast, or deserving of any D1 offers.
    • All HS football threads must reference Gilman lest they are illegitimate.
    • Even public school threads must always return to a discussion of Gilman's greatness even if it has nothing to do with Gilman.
    • Any other athletic competition or sport where Gilman is not on top is not worthy of discussion.
    • No public school team in the history of HS football could stay within 3 TDs of Gilman.

But the "other guy" has an agenda.

You don't have to tell me anything about track my friend, I am very well versed in it and know all about the guys you have mentioned. I know all about what Page and Echols did at the World Juniors. In fact watched them do it. I am an even bigger fan of track than I am football.

The point is, everybody you're talking about again is from last year. I'm talking about speed on the football field NOW! What Suitland and Wise did last year on the track means NOTHING this year on the football field.

Now if you're talking this year and track, Gilman will be fast but not crazy fast. They will be a strong as they are every year and probably the top program in the state right now.

nah, he believes what he believes so it's all good. i just know track like he knows football and there are many many speed merchants in potomac, suitland, wise, gwynn park, and others in that area. i just think his best wouldn't burst a grape against the boys i know. cyrus jones of gilman was the 100 and 200 champ for the miaa his senior season. jones best must have been around 10.9 for the 100. there are at least 15 to 20 better times than that and there is probably no one else from gilman nor any other private except for maybe dematha with sprinters in the top tier and those are pg boys.

Cyrus top time in an invitational was 10.8 but he ran faster times during the season. MIAA teams are hindered because their season is shorter and ends way before the Publics. So while the publics are running in warmer weather, the privates season ends a lot when it's still cold. Their times would be a lot faster if they ran as long as the publics. If you follow track as closely as I do, you would know that Cyrus BEAT Echols in the 100 once last year and almost beat Darby. Darby beat him three times last season.

By the way, there's no question that the PG schools have fast kids and more of them. They also have the larger schools.

then maybe i will not bother to tell you that i'm a big track person also and related to an olympian who returned from london this year with a track gold medal so i've been to a couple meets but i digress. again, i talked about track last season because track doesn't get going until some time next month. we cannot talk about it with any validity right now except for me telling you from firsthand knowledge of the youth program and knowing who's where that there are quite a few boys on the Suitland and Wise teams that can flat out fly. yep, i was at the meet last season when junior taivon jacobs beat senior champ page in the 300. it was something like the 2nd fastest time in the country and pages' time was the 3rd fastest in the country at that time. those suitland boys beat laurel in the 4x100 and again smoked everyone in the 4x200 with jacobs, winters, deas, and scarborough. and get this, wise won the tournament.

at the penn i told you potomac came in fourth behind three jamacian teams in the 4x100. well, suitland and wise was also there and qualified. you do the math with 8 lanes and the jamacian having three and pgco have three. that left gilman with the possibiblity to have and one of the two slots. where were those national sprint studs. oh, practicing football for the fall?

again, there is speed galore in the area of pg filtering down to nearby charles co and many wear football uniforms.

Then if you're familiar with youth track, me mentioning Gilman's Dorian Maddox should not be a new name to you. He's the most decorated youth track guy in the state and is actually FROM PG COUNTY!

First, you are the troll on the public school message board talking Gilman AGAIN.. My only agenda is to make you realize that there are other good football teams in the State of Maryland. Some teams are bigger than Gilman and some are faster than Gilman. Having the most Division 1 offers translates to absolutely nothing other than having the most Division one offers. Coaching is a large part of the game and I think we all agree that Gilman's offense is horrendous. I see Pop Warner teams with a more extensive playbook.
