Default Oxford-Educated Prof - High IQ, Zero Common Sense

    http://news.yahoo.com/court-argentin...opstories.html

""He has a high IQ, is well-known and very distinguished in the field of physics and other scientific areas, but when it comes to common sense he scored a zero," said former DC homicide investigator Rod Wheeler.
The Argentinean court sentenced Frampton to serve four years and eight months in custody after prosecutors there presented evidence of text messages they say Frampton sent to the person he thought was the model, saying, "I'm worried about the sniffer dogs," and "I'm looking after your special little suitcase.""

Ironically enough this is frequently true. I think it has to do with the fact that a high IQ comes from a collection of uncommon knowledge and uncommon thought processes. This is antithetical to common sense. But common sense is also a learned thing just like a high IQ. Once someone with a high IQ realizes that the uncommon knowledge that they do not possess is no longer the rare and exotic knowledge but the common knowledge that forms common sense. They can usually pick it up quicker than String Theory. At least that's how I came by my common sense. Okay, that and having people shoot at me. Nothing developes common sense quicker than having someone shoot at you.
