Default Was Sister Cathy murdered for trying to protect children?

This is a powerful article about the murder of Sister Catherine Ann Cesnik.

    http://www2.citypaper.com/story.asp?id=9526

"Roemer helped to solve more than 150 murders during his 23 years as a county cop before retiring as a major in 1975. But he never found the killer of Sister Catherine Ann Cesnik; he died of complications from diabetes on June 10, at age 79. But in interviews conducted before his death, he found these so-far-unexamined connections deeply upsetting. “The more you look at the Cesnik murder case, the more it looks like somebody was trying to cover something up,” he said.

“There was something wrong at the Catholic high school where Sister Cathy taught,” Roemer said while reviewing evidence previously unknown to him. “What you had there was a whole lot of sex going on among priests and students. Can you imagine the scandal, in 1970, if that stuff had ever come out in a trial? Hell, it could have blown the lid right off the Church!"

Wow. Interesting story. It is a shame that this was never solved. I doubt that the good detective got a lot of help from the Catholic Church.

Just pointing out this is a story from 2005; nothing new, apparently.

And I doubt that the church would handle it any different now either

One school of thought is Sister Cathy was murdered as a result of knowing about the sex abuse of Catholic school girls in Baltimore.

According the front page stories in the Sun a child molester of Catholic school kids trying to get out of jail. The murderer of Sister Cathy was never convicted and as such never paid any price for the crime.

Baltimatt, this may seem like just another cold case to you. But cases far colder have been solved. Let's hope this is resolved.

I was just pointing out the article itself was old and not breaking any new ground, but I am aware of other stories coming out about sexual abuse in Catholic schools which perhaps may tie things together.

The Sun has really done a great job on the abuse scandal. However, despite the work the Sun staff I have a sickening feeling its only the tip of the iceberg. Please keep digging.

I posted the article about Sister Cathy because I felt it was very powerful. Though the article was written a while ago it is worth reading.

When newspapers roll up their sleeves and really dig into issues they can make a big difference. It can be time consuming and expensive but worth it. I just wish the Sun had the staff and resources they had in years past.
