the discussion centered around speed, flat out pure speed. we were not talking about middle distance running and pole vaulting and discus and flag waving. the talk was about gilman's speed compared to public schools wise and suitland and i merely told you that gilman may be boss on the football field but if there is an all out jailbreak, you would not win, place, or show. and the only way you can glean any attention in the speed department is to come to pg and lease the likes of kids like dorian but there are so many of them. nitro, known to most as ronald darby, was just like dorian, a pre-teen and teen kid with blazing speed who played youth football. that potomac football player tavon young i mentioned who was on the penn relay team was not a trackster. he was just noticed by the potomac track coach running with darby and echols for football and the track coach had him to come out for track. he was raw with very little track skills. did i mention that he was at potomac for only one year, his senior season. but he could fly and really didn't know that because many in his circle were just as fast and many were just ineligible to be involved in any extra actvities so they waste away. when tavon left douglass, he was just replaced with another speed burner / hurdler kyle smith. he was the one who made douglass' only score in the football title game. he played just one year of football because he preferred track. and he has a younger brother who looks just like him who will be off the chain in the years to come. did i also mention their mom and dad are youth track coaches in pg?
