According to Gen. Petraeus, the first attack that killed the ambassador was "not" coordinated but the second attack was.

6hrs after the first attack, the second attack happened. It's not implausible that both attacks required very little advanced planning given the availability of heavy weapons in Libya and the fact that the CIA exposed the location of their base in Benghazi when they came to the rescue of the Americans in the Consulate.

As far as 9/11 goes, while 9/11 is significant to us, tragedy on the scale of 9/11 has happened far more frequently in places like Libya, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. It's just another day to them.

Of course 9/11 is significant to terrorists. Why wouldn't it be? Bin Laden had long thought of striking on one of the 9/11 anniversaries.

He did this even when he said he did not have any information as to what took place with Fast and Furious. And again he is getting in the way of an investigation into Benghazi by excusing himself from the hearings. CNN has has provided a poll showing most Americans not happy with the way the WH is handling the Benghazi attack or Petraeus's resignation. This is not just Fox News keeping this alive but also CNN.
