Palestinians: Settlement Expansion Means 1 State

The Palestinians will ask the U.N. Security Council to call for an Israeli settlement freeze, President Mahmoud Abbas and his advisers decided Tuesday, as part of an escalating showdown over Israel's new plans to build thousands more homes on war-won land in and around Jerusalem.

Such construction will destroy any lingering hopes of setting up a Palestinian state, Abbas aides warned, as international anger over the settlement construction snowballed.

Israel announced the new plans after the U.N. last week recognized a state of Palestine in the West Bank, Gaza and east Jerusalem — lands Israel occupied in 1967 — as a non-member observer.
Palestine will be taking this to the UN Security Council. They will find the UNSC willing to address this problem. They will also find that the US will not allow the UNSC to remedy the problem. They will find that where Israel is concerned the US is functionally a Continuing Criminal Enterprise.

The Bulldozers are rolling in Hebron.

Israeli bulldozers assault West Bank villages

Israel on Tuesday destroyed a mosque in the south Hebron hills, bulldozed a two-story home in East Jerusalem, demolished agricultural infrastructure southeast of Nablus, and settlers uprooted and stole about 200 olive trees in a village west of Bethlehem, witnesses said.

Witnesses told Ma’an news agency that the army prevented residents from collecting books and other items from the al-Mafqara mosque, east of the town of Yatta, before razing it for the second time since 2011.

Local activist Rateb al-Jabour told the Wafa news agency that Israeli soldiers forced worshippers out of the mosque at dawn to clear the land for the expansion of two illegal Jewish settlements, Avijal and Mao’n.

That Winery is about a mile or a little more from my home and I pass it every day. We often rent their function hall for parties and local gatherings. And we certainly are not "wine snobs"! Nor is the female owner who for years has sung in many of the local bar/restaurants as an entertainer.

Netanyahu Says Settlements to Be Israeli in Merkel Clash

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said expanded West Bank settlements near Jerusalem will eventually become part of Israel as he clashed with German Chancellor Angela Merkel over the prospective housing plan.

The West Bank land where Netanyahu gave preliminary approval for building 3,000 new homes last week, sparking a wave of international criticism, is a “small corridor” between Jerusalem and a major settlement bloc, Netanyahu said today after meeting with the German leader in Berlin.

“The curious thing is that most governments” that have looked at the settlement activity, “including the Palestinians themselves, as revealed in leaked documents, understand that these blocs, these arrangements, are going to be part of Israel in a final political settlement of peace,” Netanyahu said.

The whole purpose of the negotiations is to put a gun to the head of the Palestinians and force them to cede the illegal settlements to Israel under the constant threat of aparthied and creeping genocide. Then they'll go to the UN with a gun to their back to say we gave this land to Israel without coercion and of our own freewill.

Palestine needs to start developing a coalition of the willing to enforce international law on Israel.

Harper tells Israeli PM Canada doesn't support settlement plans

Just days after Canada stood in solidarity with Israel to oppose a Palestinian statehood bid at the UN, Prime Minister Stephen Harper has told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he disapproves of a plan to build more settlements east of Jerusalem.

Canada’s opposition to an expansion set for the West Bank was expressed in a phone call between the two leaders, the Prime Minister’s Office told CTV News.

The move by Harper is a rare break from Canada’s staunch support for Israel on Mideast policy.

Report: Israel threatens to cancel Hamas truce if Islamic Jihad leaders enter Gaza

Members of Iranian-backed Islamic Jihad say Israel has warned the militant group's two top leaders against trying to enter the Gaza Strip this week.

The pair had planned to visit Friday, along with Khaled Meshal the leader-in-exile of Hamas, Islamic Jihad's sister group.

Israel and Gaza's ruling Hamas have been holding indirect talks, through Egypt, following an Israeli offensive on militant targets in Gaza last month.

Israel must abide by Gaza ceasefire agreement, says UN rights expert

5 December 2012 – Israel must abide by and fully implement the ceasefire agreement that ended the recent crisis in Gaza, stressed a United Nations independent expert, who called on the international community to exert pressure over the country to fulfil its obligations and investigate its recent actions which resulted in the deaths of Palestinian civilians.

“Experience has shown that Israel fails to meet its international obligation to promptly and impartially investigate its own actions,” said the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel since 1967, Richard Falk, who just finished a visit to the Egyptian capital, Cairo, and the Gaza Strip.
“Experience has also shown that Israel is not likely to carry out its obligations under the ceasefire agreement; indeed during our visit we heard Israeli warplanes flying directly overhead and received reports of Israeli military incursions into the Gaza Strip.”

It's our money that allows this stalemate. Uncle Sap pays everyone to stay on their stools which they never do. Then we pay more to get them back on. Are we better off than we were in 1947? We're a lot closer to pushing the button. Every American, including myself should take a bow for contributing to this fetid mess because your money makes this all possible by stretching out the obvious. Don't worry. You'll pay more as needed. It's called old fashioned Hush Money. We Americans hate to be confronted with the facts of our adventurism.

Over 20 hurt in Hebron as soldiers clash with PA police

HEBRON (Ma'an) -- More than 20 Palestinians were wounded in clashes with Israeli forces in central Hebron on Thursday afternoon, after a skirmish between Israeli troops and Palestinian police.

Locals said Israeli soldiers had tried to detain an on-duty Palestinian police officer in Bab al-Zawiye in the center of the city.

The police officer resisted and several fellow police officers rushed to his aid, they said.

Richard Falk? The same Richard Falk who claimed that Bush was complicit in the attacks on 9/11?? Yeah, he's "non-partisan" now is he? He is firmly in the pocket of Palestine and makes no secret of it.

GAZA, Dec 8 (Reuters) - Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal, making his first ever visit to the Gaza Strip, vowed on Saturday never to recognise Israel and said his Islamist group would never abandon its claim to all Israeli territory.

"Palestine is ours from the river to the sea and from the south to the north. There will be no concession on an inch of the land," he told a sea of supporters at an open-air rally, the highlight of his three-day stay in Gaza.

"We will never recognise the legitimacy of the Israeli occupation and therefore there is no legitimacy for Israel, no matter how long it will take."

For the 15th million time, the Arabs have no legitimate claim to "Palestine", they are getting better than they deserve and should be wiped off the face of the earth.

Moscow Accuses US of Blocking Mideast Quartet Efforts

MOSCOW, December 9 (RIA Novosti) – The United States is blocking a meeting of the Quartet of Middle East mediators, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Sunday.

“We are seeking the convocation of the Quartet of international mediators. We are supported by the European Union and the UN while the United States, the fourth participant in this mechanism, does not want this. We are talking about this publicly,” Lavrov said.

The last meeting of the Quartet, which comprises the United Nations, United States, European Union and Russia and aims to settle the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, took place in September 2011 at the UN headquarters
Russia also advocates convening an international conference on a nuclear-free area in the Middle East but this initiative is also being blocked by the United States, Lavrov said.
If we won't compromise on Israel then they shouldn't compromise on Syria. Russia should take the position that if Israel can as they damned well please with a total disregard for international law. Then so can Syria. They should tell Obama we'll do itteh hard way. We'll deal with Israel and the 1967 boarders and you deal with Syria and the Sarin. Good luck on that!

I see no problem with that. I don't understand why Obama would be such a fool as to actually consider getting involved with Syria. Let Syria destoy itself from within. The weaker they get, the better off American interests in the region are. Let them kill off each other. We've already seen how tilting the game towards rebels ended in Libya. Let the Syrians massacre themselves. No reason for us to even give it a second thought.

The down side is that if Al Qaida gets control of Syria's sarin. They will use it on US at the first given opportunity.
