I'm not taken a thing from western but that team has 2 girls that can play but when I saw that phantom foul on a kid in the second qt I told my son it was over for Mervo. And it's a shame!! I read westerns comments on varsity sports and I was like wow, but its over now we'll get them next year...Mervo starting point guard broke her wrist

City beat Milford Mill 68-57. Very good game by the Lady Knights outside of missing free throws late in the game. One bit of criticism though is that they need to use more timeouts to give their players a blow especially since DaDa has to play the whole game. Tired legs at the end of the game was a big part of them missing so many free throws. Nice job all around though and now it's on to the regional championship.

Good win by City. I saw this coming after Milford's poor perfromance against Hereford on Tuesday. Having to go on the road against the team you eliminated last year was just a recipe for elimination.

City will travel to Aberdeen for the regional championship. Aberdeen laid the smackdown on Digital Harbor tonight by 34 points.

Looks like you might have been right about nobody challenging Aberdeen. It's amazing how well they're playing without Jones. I'm gonna have to go up there to see them for myself even though I know City's a big time underdog.

p.s. It's only fitting that City and Milford Mill meet in boys and girls hoops. City and Milford might the most successful boys and girls programs combined in the state over the last 5 yrs.

Not amazing to me. I've seen them play with Bri and without her. I like I said, they're more dangerous without her.

Milford girls team had some tough battles with Catonsville since winning states in 2005 and couldn't get over the hump until Dionna White arrived last year. The girls will be in the mix next year with only one senior graduating.

The boys have won 89 straight over county opponents and are going for their 3rd state title in 4 years.

I think City and Milford's girls and boys teams will be just fine for the next few years.

I know I'm beating a dead horse, but why can't the City coaches get together and pick a first/second team all City team. Every other county and district does it except for Baltimore City. And they haven't done it for several years now.

It means a lot to see your name in the paper to a 15-16 year old kid. Just another reason Wade deserves criticism.

You know I was thinking about your words at halftime but it wasn't meant to be in the 2nd half. As well as City played in the 1st half they played equally as bad in the 2nd and ended up getting crushed by close to 30. I don't know what happened, they just looked like a team out of gas and they played out of control after playing so well in the 1st.

Props to Aberdeen though, they play well together. I don't think they have superstar talent except for Jones but they played with a different attitude against City in the 2nd half. Great season for the Lady Knights and no shame in taking a lead into the locker room against Aberdeen.

So you don't have to eat a full plate of crow but you might get a little as an appetizer.

I disagree that they don't have any superstar type players. Stephanie Jones (Bri's sister) went for 33 pts and 21 boards....and she's just a freshman. You hit the nail on the head about one thing....Aberdeen plays well together. They don't go outside of their system, nobody plays outside of their skill set, and they seem to enjoy playing with one another.

The scary thing is that they only start one senior. We could be looking at a long run of dominance from Aberdeen.

You didn't read me correctly. I said they don't have any superstars other than Jones. Reread my post. My point was that the strength of their team is that they play well together. I saw that in the 2nd half as they played like they knew where the next player was going to be and City was always a step behind.

City has the talent to play with Aberdeen and they proved it but when they got rattled they weren't seasoned enough to get out of it. Not only will Aberdeen be back next year but so will City and Milford Mill. City won the jv championship and will be reloading next year.

Aberdeen has possibly 4 D1 players in their starting line-up, one of which is probably the best player in the state as a freshman. The change to the 1-3-1 in the second half was a thing of beauty even to an old ball coach like myself with rooting interest for the Knights of City College. The 3 guards from Aberdeen defend about as we'll as any I've seen and they are relentless attackers.

City was just outgunned and their run ended right after halftime with the zone change by Aberdeen. 25-4 with wins over Poly and Milford make it a pretty good season. I know I had a disappointed point guard in my car after the game but I just had to remind her that now that basketball season is over, you just have all the more time to hit the books.

City will be better next year both in talent and attitude. Their JV team dominated this year and a couple of those kids will really add enthusiasm and effort.
    City Forever.

They made the adjustments at halftime and we didn't. Very good point. We need another guard to handle the ball to take some of the pressure off of DaDa. We had no clue how to attack that zone in the third qtr. and that was the difference. It would have taken a perfect game to beat them and tell your little one that we were halfway there. Nothing to be ashamed of.

    And definitely City Forever!

Absolutely no reason to hold your head down, it's hard to explain to kids there's always tomorrow, you're a student athlete first...I love Dada's game!!!! I told my kids at mervo the day we lost at city....when dada ran over to my point guards and told them to work harder it will come I fell in love with her and wish her all the best real talk... Coach T. Turned that schools basketball program around with positive thinking and having those kids believing in themselves...and wherever dada got that spirit from benefactor please keep it up with her real talk!!!! Go city!!!
