    Default Referee And Their Teams

How is it we get a guy who lives 5 minutes outside of Pitt do any of our games ,let alone any AFC games (North) . I think he is one of the best as his brother is too but really do you think some of these calls came at the "right " time. Really NFL, you can't see a conflict in this man doing AFC games of the North?

I saw the conflict on the Yanda holding call.

I just read where this guy who reffed has a store outside Pittsburgh. Can you imagine him making a bad call that hurt Pittsburgh ? The store would be closed.

First all, you are incorrect as obviously you just made it up. Steratore is from Washington, Pa., 40 miles from Pittsbugh, about the distance from Baltimore to DC.

Secondly, the idea that you would see a conflict is stupid. I see this every once in a while and it is just clueless.

Do you really think this man calls a game based on where he is from? I see another idiot below thinks he called holding on Yanda because he lives 40 miles from Pittsburgh.

    You people are amazing.

Don't get me wrong I think the guy is a great ref but REALLY? To ref a game so close to your home? The city is wild about the Steelers as it is all they have to cheer for in the pro's. As for his decision making. Tell Miami he is good? He did a game 2 or 3 years ago that the Dolphins held the Steelers twice on 4th and goal but were called for a penalty and finally the Steelers went in for the winning score. I read the people in Miami were furious with this guy but as I said. He should not be made to call a game that he is compromised in. He is to good a ref for that.

By the way I tell you what. Let a Baltimore area ref do a Pittsburgh game between the Ravens and Pitt and see what they would say. I think the NFL should not allow any ref to be put into a bad situation. There are just to many refs to do that.

Even a yinzer like Gene Steratore (of Steratore Bros Janitorial Supply in Washington PA http://www.steratoresanitary.com/about-us.html ) couldn't have helped them against the Brownies, lol.

How embarrassing, losing to the hapless Cleveland Clowns.

There you go again. (The city is wild about the Steelers as it is all they have to cheer for in the pro's) The Penguins and Pirates will be hurt.

The idea that someone would alter a game because of where they lived is silly. You are confusing a football game with real life.

    The Miami call was correct.

You're talking the difference between a major metropolis with a HUGE mixture and mixed fanbase, not a hand full of yinz and Iron City. They don't compare.

A clown like him should be limited to NFC games period.

    Facts:

Baltimore gets terrible calls against them...and terrible calls in their favor.
Pittsburgh gets terrible calls against them...and terrible calls in their favor.
Every team gets terrible calls against them...and terrible calls in their favor.

That kind of objectivity just WILL NOT DO around these parts!

Yes, and no. The real question is whether or not there's any behind the scenes efforts to promote some teams in some years in the NFL. At times, it's hard NOT to feel that the NFL has become a glorified WWE. Even the year the Steelers beat the Colts in the playoffs, announcers were saying that the Steelers had to beat not only the team on the field, but the refs as well. (THAT year, it seemed as if the Colts were the "chosen ones".) And can you really say that you didn't think the games were slanted towards the Saints the year they won it all? Many of those "non calls" were SO obviously biased, it's just hard to imagine that there isn't SOMETHING nefarious going on behind the scenes, especially when you factor in all of the gambling money involved week in and week out. Does the modern day NFL really strike you as an entity that is based primarily on integrity? It does not strike me that way at all. So that opens up the door to a lot of doubts and questions. Now, that's not to say that the OP is on track with his take, but only that something less than pure is going on.
