Go Terps. I'm expecting a nail-biter. Looks like NU has beaten some pretty good mid-major teams.

Holy crap... It's halftime and I'm watching Carolina get dunked on repeatedly by Indiana... Embarrassing.
Ok, so maybe I was wrong... Great 2nd half so far for MD.
I thought Maryland looked good, and at times great.
They missed a lot of close shots in the first half but their dominance on the boards kept them in it. In the second half the shots began to fall.
I have been watching the terps for a long time. I have to get this off my chest. I think this new coach is off to a great start, but I think that he prefers Dez wells to be the face of the team. I have also notice how he has been been down on Nick faust . To be honest I believe he is slowly but surely trying to make faust into a third or four option on the team when it obvious that the kid should be the second option on this team. Yes , his shooting been off but he one of the only terps that can create his own shot. This comes after the fact that coach T basically begged Faust to stay with the terps after the coaching change. That a great way to treat a kid who last year you were high on and now you push him to the side
I think at this time Faust should be the 3rd option. I believe that the Terps should be looking to get Len the ball a lot more, as he has been an absolute beast with facing up, post moves, and even on the boards. After that I do think Wells should be the second option. He appears to be a more polished play maker by being under control and not forcing things as sometimes Faust appears to do.
I still think Faust will be an All ACC type player before his career is over, and I don't think being the 3rd scoring option is a bad thing on this team. Faust is very important as a playmaker, ball handler, and defender; I just think he is still learning how and when to score.
You make some very good points. I am ok with him being the third option but the child was a scorer in high school and scorer need shots to get in a groove. Your not going to get in a groove with eight shots. Yes the terps are deep but the reality is that len, faust, and wells there main scorer. I just think it a bad look when you let a all- rookie player from another conference come in and over step the all rookie acc preformer who you asked to stay. This is one of the main reason that baltimore best players don't go to maryland. They get told one thing to get them at maryland , then the story changes. don't be surprise if faust tranfers , coach k at dukes love faust and he has the grade to get into duke.
Sorry, but I disagree with your assessment of the situation. MD is a young team and Turgeon is going to keep tweaking the line-up to find one that produces results. Many of Dez's shots were created by Dez - slashing through the defense. Faust has that same ability, and it's up to him to do that. Dez shot 9 of 11, Faust 3 of 8. 3 shots isn't a big difference.
What Baltimore players have been deceived by Maryland? Juan Dixon? Keith Booth? Rodney Elliott?
That one of the main reason the harrison twin didn't come. How coach T treats faust will determine how the next generation of baltimore city talent will view Maryland basketball.
Most D1 college players were scorers in high school. Look at Mosely, he was a top 3 MD scorer all time and was never the #1 or #2 option. Just because someone is a scorer doesn't mean they shoot 20 times a game. They have to learn to choose there spots to score. Faust is erratic at times so he is still learning. FYI -he is not going to Duke. Turgeon says Faust and Howard are the 2 that do the most recruiting for players come for there visits.
Baltimore players didn't go to MD because they were not recruited. Now they are being recruited, so I believe you will see a lot more Baltimore players go to MD. Not too mention, unfortunately some of the Baltimore players do not have the grades to get into MD.
The season is still young and I think Faust is going to be a heck of a player. I do not think Turgeon has any plans for reducing his role.
He's being hard on faust, because he has played like a knucklehead sometimes this year. He's trying to teach him better shot selection, and this year turgeon has no qualms pulling a starter with the bench being as deep as it is, dez has something I'm not so sure faust has..."IT", dez plays with a confidence I don't see in faust yet.

I never said the best go to Maryland. You said that Baltimore players were repeatedly told one thing by MD and then MD has done something else. I asked which players you were referring to. I was providing examples of Baltimore players that have had great success at MD.
What was the reason? How MD treats Faust? How they treat Baltimore players? I don't get your point.
I think it's pretty easy to figure out why the Twins didn't go to MD - The number of lottery picks that come out of KY and the fact that KY won the NC last year. Hell, part of it could have been that they would have had to compete for PT with Faust... Even the Twins' father said something to the effect of "Turgeon is the most stand-up coach he's ever dealt with." Turgeon was not the reason they chose KY.
This is a very deep Terp team. It's going to be hard to give each player the minutes that they would like. Right now, Wells is out performing Faust. Nick has thrown up some bricks and his shot selection has not always been the best.
I think that Coach Turgeon is still experimenting with player rotation. I don't see Nick being disrespected. Turgeon plays whoever gives Maryland the best chance of winning.
Barf.
That's all.
