Theres some sort of "law" that Mr. know it all-know nothing could reference for me, I think Spock once alluded to it, that says the most obvious answer is more likely.
In other words, if you see something in the sky you can't identify, YOU automatically think it's likely an alien, rather than considering that it might be something man-made, as in experimental aircraft, or just something YOU are not familiar with.
It's like the folks that think it's the ghost of Aunt Ester when a door slams or the TV goes on or off by itself. The more likely explanation is not ghosts, but what fun is that, right?
