Default Where did the question 6 and 7 money come from?

    http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/mar...tory?track=rss

Supporters of the measure reported nearly 15,000 checks from individuals and organizations. Opponents drew a fraction of that, with about 2,300 donations. Each side received some six-figure checks, but proponents relied less heavily on large gifts. The average contribution on behalf of gay marriage was $402, while the average check from opponents was $1,037.

    ......

Supporters of the same-sex marriage measure raised almost half their money from Maryland donors — with thousands of small house parties held nightly in September and October. Opponents relied more heavily on out-of-state giving, with 30 percent of their funds coming from the Free State.

Of course I maintain if they gave it all to schools we would not have schools in need of money!

Well I do know that all the funding for the support of Question 4, the illegal alien Dream Act, came from state taxpayers and all these taxpayer funded associations like the teachers groups. The opposition was the true underdogs consisting of a grassroots movement of patriotic Americans who saw our country and way of life under siege. No matter what the law says, these people will always be illegal to me. No matter what O'Malley says they will never be American in my eyes. Never. They will be illegal to the grave.

How do you figure MSEA is taxpayer funded? They get their money from dues collected from members earnings which is money they earned.....at that point it is no longer government money. Do you have the figures from the election commission to back-up your grass roots claim?

Why do so many out-of-staters want to hurt Maryland families?

Frank Schubert, a consultant who managed the campaign against legalization of same-sex marriage in Maryland and three other states, blamed the fundraising gap on what he called a "sustained campaign of intimidation and harassment" against those who support "true marriage."

"It takes no courage to contribute to our opponents — it's the most politically correct thing imaginable," Schubert said.
Says the guy who bases his campaign on lies and distortions. I wonder how this divorced and remarried Catholic who throws his own sister under the bus sleeps at night.

Since those particular "illegals" never bothered to comply with campaign finance law, no.

Wouldn't it be nice it they practiced what they preached?

That's right. So, until and unless they decide to obey the law, we'll never know whether those who financially backed the opposition consisted of “true underdogs consisting of a grassroots movement of patriotic Americans...”

Not only that but – and you’d think this would concern the contributors – no one will ever know what happened to the money!

That database comes directly from the campaign finance reports filed with the Maryland State Board of Elections.

Not to belabor the point (well, not too much, anyway) -- if the Sun did the same thing with the Dream Act, the searchable database would only include donors for it, because only they have complied with the law.

Can you imagine the screaming and gnashing of teeth if it were the other way -- if the opponents had followed the law, and the proponents had not?

I'm fairly sure a couple of posters' heads would explode; instead, they are oddly quiet.
