I handed out "yes on Question 6" brochures at a majority-black precinct in the city. (My involvement comes from having a very close relative who's gay.) I was surprised at how receptive people were to the idea, contrary to the stereotype of widespread and visceral opposition among black voters. The fact that a substantial majority of voters in Baltimore City supported same-sex marriage says a lot about the smart campaign run by Marylanders for Marriage Equality. The material I was handing out, which included a big picture of and quote from Michelle Obama, was well-designed and seemed particularly effective. There was nobody handing out literature for the other side of the issue.

    Regularguy--

It was also fairly close in Prince George's County, even though it lost 49.4% to 50.6% there.

"They" are gays. And Smokey 1 wonders about them and thinks they're manipulating him.

No they are trying to manipulate everyone into believing that being gay is normal.

Didn't Ellen already do that with her television talk show?

    Is left-handedness "normal"?

Its not the "norm". The issue is that civil unions give them all the rights they claim they want but they want the "term" marriage. There is only one reason why they want the same term and it is to "normalize" homosexuality.

Ditto homosexuality. (I have a close relative who was stereotypically gay since he was 2 or 3 years old. He hasn't gotten any straighter in the decades since then.)

There was once a stigma to being left-handed. It has since been normalized.

No fiance yet...we have far too many student/car loans to think about a wedding Having that finally be an option in our home state is a pretty incredible feeling!

Who is being manipulated? The anti-6 crowd told plenty of lies, not the pro-6 crowd. I don't give a rat's behind if you think my relationship is normal, nor do other gay couples. If we want your opinion on the matter, we'll ask for it.

Uh, no, it is because its stupid to create a separate institution just to get all of the same rights. Heaven forbid we want equality in 2012 (which we got!!!!)

Yes you do, or at least you want most people to think that.

What kind of behavior from a 2 year old did you perceive as stereotypically gay?

At that age it was wearing dresses, playing with dolls, identifying more with girls than boys.

I love it when people try to tell others how they think or what they feel. I'm not sure how I could make it any clearer for you, but no, I don't care in the slightest whether or not you think my relationship to my partner is normal or not. What I do care about is that when we are ready to marry, we will be able to.

I know what you mean, people do that all the time on this board. I was just trying to get your goat, you know that don't you?

And your last post was funny.

I would have been surprised if it didn't pass. I think a lot of people follow my line of thinking, "Why do I give a crap if gay folks want to get married?"
