    Default Week 14 Scores

    River Hill 20, Huntingtown 18

    Wise 12, Quince Orchard 7

Neither one of the 4A teams impressed me. Both teams made tons of mistakes. Wise had lots of speed/athleticism, but were unimpressive on offense. Their defense was solid.

But let's face it, the winning team's objective was NOT to impress you. Their objective was to win the championship and that's what Wise did. Mission Complete! I'll wager the losing team would also not care to impress you but won.

    Just sayin'

Like I've been saying, Wise's offense isn't that impressive. But they are big, fast, and play good defense. Wise was very undisciplined tonight, too many penalties and a huge fumble on the QO 2yd line. QO only had one penalty all game. I still think both of these teams are better than River Hill.

The PG title drought is over. MoCo's is still in full force.

Wise has one of the top defenses I have seen in a long time. Very well coached and they get after it. Congrats to coach Parrish. I've seen him go from outstanding HS star to new coach to State Champ. Keep it going.

If the one QO penalty was that unsportsman-like call at the end of the game then QO save theirs for one doozie of a penalty. That penalty was mostly costly in my opinion. But I also think that if Wise played QO ten times over the next ten days, Wise would win 8 of those theorictical games. QO was getting stuffed at the line. They should have started the game like they finished with more roll out passing. QO was fortunate to be so close because that fumble at the 2 by Wise could have had the wheels off for QO early. Wise is a front runner.

Did Gilman lend those teams their offensive coaches.

Moco is very over-rated. 4A team can't beat the second best 3A team in MoCo, and the best 3A team in MoCo can't beat the fourth best team in FredCo. What in God's name makes you think they can run with River Hill. I'd love to hear this one.

The eye test. I saw all the teams with my own two eyes, and I formed an opinion about the quality of each team I saw. IMO, the River Hill team I saw last night was not as good as the Quince Orchard team I saw tonight.

If you can't see that Quince Orchard greatly improved as the season progressed then I don't know what to say to you.

River Hill beat Long Reach 52-16 in week 1
Long Reach beat Atholton 13-12 in week 3
Atholton had no freaking chance against River Hill

Huntingtown lost to a Westlake team that Urbana crushed in week 1, yet River Hill only beats H-town by four?? Using the transitive property to explain scores in football is how heavy favorites end up losing to "inferior" teams.

Okay Speed, so you are saying that there is NO "...transitive property..." in Maryland high school football nor any level of football. In other words, the "transitive property" simply does does apply to football! That is; "Team A defeated team B, and team B defeated team C. Therefore, team A will defeat team C." If so, then I feel you.

Right, like if you were an idiot and Speed was an idiot we would have no way to determine who was the bigger idiot.

    Dunbar 39, New Town 0

CHC scored more points against Dunbar in Week 1 (24), than Dunbar allowed the rest of the season.

People don't want to admit it because they are 1A but Dunbar is loaded with talent. More talent than CHC had. I would say they are only behind GC and Gilman when it comes to talent on their team.

You are right they "ain't that good". They cannot beat PG County schools, they cannot win in the 3a they cannot beat Wise, QO, Dunbar Or anyone else that they have not played! But wait they did beat the pg county schools, they did win 3A and this year they beat everyone they played to WIN states and go undefeated but they "aint that good". Everyone knows that you "ain't that good" just because you win back to back states.

What's worse is they also are not that big and not that fast and they have no D1 talent. They are also of course not a championship team because championship teams do not win games after a bad first half they lose them.

The State of MD football must be on a real downward spiral because according to this board all of the State Champs just "ain't that good".

Congratulations to the "ain't that good" repeat State Champion River Hill Hawks.

Did Middletown's starting QB get hurt halfway through the season or something?

A curious post when one looks back and sees Calvert Hall blew Dunbar off the field this year. Are you saying Dunbar is that poorly coached?

Yes I am. Talent wise, I don't think it's even close.

    Middletown 30, Frederick Douglass 12

Middletown and Dunbar will both be in 2A next season. I would have liked to see a Middletown-Dunbar title game this season, we'll see if they can both make it back in 2013.
