Wow. The MDGOP Fall Convention is only in its second day and there is already controversy courtesy of the Harris~Pipkin faction party in~fighting. Not even sworn in yet, the newly elected Cecil County executive has switched party affiliation from Republican to independent, creating controversy.
LinkyThe incoming Cecil County executive's decision to switch her party registration from Republican to independent Thursday has become a major flashpoint at the state GOP convention in Howard County this weekend, exposing a gaping split in party ranks.
Tari Moore, who was elected Nov. 6 as Cecil's first executive under charter government, confirmed Friday that she had changed her registration -- less than four weeks after winning election under the Republican banner and with financial support from the state GOP.
And the convention still has more to come with the intra~party feuding that will call for Alex Mooney to step down before his term is up, the "no confidence" motion against National Party Chairperson Reince Priebus, and the shrinking of the Maryland Young Republicans under its current leadership.![]()
