that's what SI is reporting ......

The player who shot himself was said to be fourth-year linebacker Jovan Belcher, 25, but Kansas City police and team officials have not confirmed his identity. There are no other known injuries at the Chiefs facility.

The Chiefs released a statement saying: "We can confirm that there was an incident at Arrowhead earlier this morning. We are cooperating with authorities in their investigation.''

According to a KCTV-Ch. 5 report in Kansas City, Belcher shot and killed his girlfriend at home around 8 a.m. CT, then drove to the team facility, where he later shot and killed himself in the parking lot of the team complex. Earlier reports indicated that Belcher argued with some Chiefs coaches and Kansas City general manager Scott Pioli before committing suicide.

Regardless, I feel horrible for two families who are mourning their losses today!

Sad and tragic for the girlfriend and the baby. He on the other hand died as a murderer.

I can't believe the NFL hasn't already cancelled the Chiefs/Panthers game.

NFL has told the Panthers to travel to KC and be prepared to play. I agree I don't know how you can expect a team to play after a teammate just committed suicide and your head coach witnessed it. Neither team is in the playoff hunt. Its a meaningless game. At the very least postpone til Monday

The show must go on. Just liek when Owen Hart died-Rip. The guy was pretty selfish to do it in front of Romeo and the GM, let alone in taking his own life after what he did..

I would also hope they don't plan a moment of silence for the killer before the game.

If both teams were playing well the game would have been postponed a day.
    It's just so sad.

Doesn't surprise me. They played a full slate of games on Sunday two days after the JFK assassination!

Jovan and Romeo Crennel are both represented by agent Joe Linta.

    I agree.

You kill a person and Orphan a child. No way I do a moment of silence but I think the Chiefs are going to.
