After stopping, the driver in the minivan reversed and rammed into the front of the police car while the officer was still inside, then drove off toward Stoneleigh Road, according to police reports.
The officer was able to pursue the minivan. While in pursuit, police confirmed that the Caravan was stolen from Baltimore City. Reports said the driver of the minivan pulled into a driveway in the 6700 block of Maxalea Road, then rammed the police car again. The officer was able to get out of his vehicle and attempted to place the driver under arrest, but the driver tried to run over the officer, police said.The officer fired his service weapon several times, and had to dive out of the way to avoid being struck by the minivan, according to the report.
The driver sped away, but crashed the minivan into a parked car in front of the 6700 block of Maxalea Road. He then fled on foot, and a county K-9 unit tracked him down in a shed in the backyard of a house in the 6900 block of Sherwood Road, police said.
