Default Israel Withholds Tax Revenues From Palestinian Authority

Israel withholds tax revenues from Palestinian Authority

JERUSALEM --Israel said Sunday it would withhold more than $100 million in tax revenue this month from the cash-strapped Palestinian Authority, the latest reaction to last week's U.N. vote recognizing the Palestinian territories as a "nonmember observer state."

Israeli Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz said he would use the money to repay part of an outstanding Palestinian debt -- estimated to be about $180 million -- to Israel’s electricity company for power supplied to parts of the West Bank.

The action was expected since Israel previously halted the transfer of monthly tax payments in response to a similar U.N. bid by the Palestinians last year. The money is collected on behalf of the Palestinian Authority from West Bank importers using Israeli ports.

Not well. But its not like we are forced to give it. Even the Muslim Brotherhood gets billions from us.

Has Israel paid the 714 million they stole from Egypt in Natural gas contracts at less than market value with Mubarak? The natural gas Israel uses to make their electricty with. Israel didn't pay for that electricy going to Palestine. EGYPT DID!

Egypt cancels gas pact with Israel

Egypt has scrapped a 2005 gas export deal with Israel, which relies on Egyptian natural gas for 40 percent of its supplies to produce electricity, the chairman of a government holding firm said.

The accord was "annulled on Thursday with the East Mediterranean Gas Co (EMG) which exports gas to Israel because the company failed to respect conditions stipulated in the contract," Mohamed Shoeib of Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Co (EGAS) told AFP.

The sale of gas to Israel, which signed a peace treaty with Egypt in 1979, has always been controversial in the Arab world's most populous country. It was the largest trade deal between the two former foes.

We need to take 100 million from Israel's military aid and give it to Palestine. We also need to take 716 million from Israel's military aid and give it to Egypt. Then we need to hold the rest until they grow the freak up and quit acting like spoiled brats throwing a tantrun.

The predictable outcome of the failure of Obamanian and broader schizophrenic US foreign policy. That things are unraveling so quickly for Obama is a most excellent outcome. Yes, Obama and his Myrmidon Brigades of 'must defend,' throwing Mubarak under the wheels of the bus while peddling the idiocy of Bushblundering democracy spreading (the lack of competence within the regime's intelligence community when it came to predicting what this would mean) meant stuffing US regional foreign policy objectives under the wheels of the bus as well.

'We' need to cut all aid for everybody there to zero and let them and them sort out their issues on their own. You, however, should be free to donate of your own funds (not the funds of others) to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Obama has an edge. He doesn't have any NEOCONS subjecting American foreign policy to Israeli rule. But he can't let Netanyahu lead him down that road he used the NEOCON's to force Bush down. I think most of the Bush Administrations arrogance and hubris came from Israel via the NEOCONs. Because I now find myself having to say about Israel the same thing I said about the Bush Administration. You can piss off some of the people some of the time. But you can't piss off all the people all the time.

Israel settlement bid a 'fatal blow' to peace: Ban

UNITED NATIONS — UN leader Ban Ki-moon warned Sunday that if Israel implemented its latest plan for new settlements it would deal an "almost fatal blow" to any prospects for peace with the Palestinians.

Israel's announcement about the 3,000 Jewish settler homes, whose planned location was not revealed, came in the wake of a historic vote by the United Nations General Assembly to upgrade Palestine's diplomatic status.

Israeli media reported that some of the new construction would be in E1, a highly contentious area of the West Bank that runs between the easternmost edge of annexed east Jerusalem and the Maaleh Adumim settlement.

Netanyahu might just be walking the plank:

For first time, Britain, France may recall ambassadors in protest at Israel's settlement construction

Neoconservatism started with a group of former liberals.

Hopefully the Israli voter will see where Netanyahu is taking them and throw his rear out like they did in the 90's!

Good for you guys! Bye Bye Ron Prosor. We should expell Michael Oren. We don't care if you were born here. You have to go to Israel.

Before anyone gets their hopes up and starts thinking HA HA Israel really put one over on the stupid Americans. You can't expell him even if you wanted to. He had to give up his American Citizenship before assuming his post. So yes he can be kicked out of America even though he was born here.
