I just don't get why this is a story still after almost five years in the league. So for those who feel this why, would you feel better with Rivers?

You can see it when you watch the games. He often sits alone on the sidelines. People gravitate to those they can depend on when the chips are down. The players know. Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs, Ray Rice, Boldin & Pollard. Those are the team leaders. You know it and I know it. Joe should be by now, but he is not.
With all due respect, this idea that Joe "sits by himself" more than any other QB is a lot of horse crap. I assume you go to the games. You can see / watch the bench area. If you actually think there's some notable difference between Joe on the sideline, and his interaction with teammates / staff, compared to any other QB in the league... I think you're either innocently mistaken, or intentionally making it up.
If he throws a TD pass, the cameras show him hoot on the field for two seconds. If he does something wrong, the cameras zoom in on his face on the sideline. Then people think he's "all alone". Comical.
Want to criticize, fine. Worry about his play fake (not very good in my opinion). Talk about his deep ball (frequently underthrown this season). Bash the terrible INT or the untimely fumble. But let's quit the rhetoric about what we THINK we see "in Joe's eyes"... or using 3 second broadcast clips to make some broad and inaccurate statement about his demeanor or relationship with the team...
