Default WH: House Republican proposal "not balanced"

    Babysteps:

“The Republican letter released today does not meet the test of balance. In fact, it actually promises to lower rates for the wealthy and sticks the middle class with the bill. Their plan includes nothing new and provides no details on which deductions they would eliminate, which loopholes they will close or which Medicare savings they would achieve. Independent analysts who have looked at plans like this one have concluded that middle class taxes will have to go up to pay for lower rates for millionaires and billionaires. While the President is willing to compromise to get a significant, balanced deal and believes that compromise is readily available to Congress, he is not willing to compromise on the principles of fairness and balance that include asking the wealthiest to pay higher rates. President Obama believes—and the American people agree—that the economy works best when it is grown from the middle out, not from the top down. Until the Republicans in Congress are willing to get serious about asking the wealthiest to pay slightly higher tax rates, we won’t be able to achieve a significant, balanced approach to reduce our deficit our nation needs.”

Again, the problem is spending. Arguing over revenue is just theater.

Gonna hit the debt ceiling either late this year or early next year. Again.

And exactly how was the WH proposal balanced? Tax the rich now and we will discuss spending cuts later? Exactly how does Obama expect to get 1.6T in revenue anyways? Sounds like fuzzy math. Watch out middle class, he's coming for increased taxes from you too!

Which is why Dictator Obama wants automatic debt ceiling increases by bypassing the democratic process.

Obama is running an apartheid state in this country in which the fiscally productive are treated as second class citizens. He should, however, give Marx the credit that he is due, by citation, when he engages in his Marxist speechifying (or when such is engaged in on his behalf).

Hogwash. Taxes are historically low and we have an aging population.

The biggest contributors to our current deficit are the recent economic crisis and the Bush era tax cuts. Both of those can be summed up in one word - revenue.

Nope. The problem is socialism. Those of you that wish to horde the elderly in your refrigerator... don't look to others to fund your sickness.

No doubt that the middle class will be paying thousands more in taxes. But they won't care. They are already zombified. Obama actually has them loving being raped by his socialist programs.

Middle class got a tax cut. Continue to live with your head in the sand.

I received a tax cut by not raising my taxes?

    You are an [deleted]!

Why can't the government spend within it's means?

Can any Obama support for tell me if so called $250,000 income for couple is gross income or adjusted gross income?

If I recall for individuals, it was $200,000. If so would there be a provision for a couple making $125,000 filing separately?

Clueless. If you don't stop the spending the problem will never be corrected. See Europe.

Ultimately both sides are going to have to give a little in order to put the house in order. The Republicans will ultimately give in on taxes as long as the Democrats provide some real spending (including entitlement) cuts. All the rest is just political theater.

Its a spending problem, not a revenue problem. This is the same problem Maryland has had for decades.

I think you are wrong. Look what happened to Bush "read my lips" when he did raise taxes even when he did it to pay for the Gulf War. The Republicans did not vote for him, and the Democrats voted for Clinton. Republicans will not accept new taxes and the Democrats bought into Obama's rhetoric of raising the bad rich peoples taxes.

Yeah, it's funny when people are trying so hard to look smarter than they are that they end up saying one word but meaning another.
