Do you think the rescue boats from the Titanic should have gone back to attempt to rescue the people who were in the water even though there was not enough boats to handle the extra load? Were the survivors selfish? What decision would you have made if you were in charge of one of the rescue boats?

Liberals would have demanded someone else send their boat.

BTW - Nothing gave me more pleasure than to call and report the skank trying to sell her EBT at the grocery store on Sunday.
    Epic fail.

    You're kidding, right?

Can you really -- with a straight face -- compare comfortable, working Americans with people in a crowded lifeboat on a freezing ocean?

Are you saying that we can only help the poor if someone else dies?

    Pathetic.

The debt is sinking this titanic called the US. And yet people continue to push for more spending. The analogy is very much in line with what is taking place in Washington. Someone will eventually make the tough decision to cut spending. Yes, people will suffer if they aren't already due to lack of funding somewhere in the world.

I am not sure I see your analogy here.

Nonsense. The right continues to fabricate doomday scenarios to support what were once unsupportable cuts to the social safety net.

The deficit numbers are exacerbated by the recession's effect on tax revenues, and the percentage of GNP spent by government is up for the same reason.

There is a longterm entitlement problem, but the idea that we can't afford emergency relief is absurd.

Kindly point out the significant discretionary spending increases that have taken place -- beyond the stimulus spending that kept us out of a major depression.

My friend, you can certainly afford to make the monthly payments for my soon to be purchased on your tab Ferrari. To suggest otherwise would be absurd. It is socially just that you pay for my 'needs,' as I define them.
