Default Parents Defend 7-Year-Old Mykayla Medical Marijuana Use

New meaning to between a rock and a hard place.
    Wishing Mykayla the best!

"Two weeks ago, Mykayla Comstock was an ordinary 7-year-old girl living through an extraordinary ordeal. She’s been battling leukemia since June, when a basketball-size tumor was discovered in her chest."

"Now Mykayla is in the middle of another battle—and in the national spotlight—over whether children should be able to use marijuana to mitigate the crippling effects of chemotherapy. A newly registered member of the state’s Medical Marijuana Program, she has consumed a daily gram of cannabis oil, encapsulated in a pill, since shortly after her diagnosis. The leukemia quickly went into remission, say Mykayla’s unapologetic parents, and in the months that followed she has been able to cope with the debilitating symptoms associated with her traditional cancer treatments."

"Mykayla’s parents tell their critics to consider the alternatives for pain management: highly addictive prescription drugs, including oxycodone and hydrocodone. She’s been offered both, they said, for symptoms as mild as a stomachache. Thanks to her cannabis oil, Mykayla can battle occasional nausea with little more than a ginger chew, Purchase says."

Its insane to object to anyone using something that is an effective medicine just because it happens to be marijuana or a derivative.

You obviously don't have your priorities in order. This little girl and her suffering is the least of this. What is most important is that the Phamaceutical companies have the opportunity to use her suffering to maximize their profits. I would say we're all going to hell for this. But we're already there living in health care hell.

Let's see...getting through leukemia with a little help from mary jane and losing a few brain cells along the way or use strong highly addictive pain killers? I think any parent would accept a slightly slower child in adulthood than put her on strong pain killers.

I'm still on the fence with using marijuana to treat medical issues but I understand Mykayla's mom is doing her best for her child and it seems to be working. That said I was surprised to find that the U.S. government holds a patent(#6630507) on medical marijuana for a variety of uses.

I have a family member who used it in pill form but it did not work.
    My children are my legacy.

    Why would that surprise you?

Mykayla can take whatever helps her through her illness. Doesn't bother me in the least.

Mom, it has different effects depending upon the method of introduction. For nausea suppression and appetite stimulation it's better to smoke it than eat it. Also the effects are more immediate. Ir's the difference between 2 minutes for smoking and 1/2 hour to 45 minutes for ingestion. Eating it is heavy on the stomach and produces a bodily high that is better suited for pain relief or intestinal healing.

Now we'll see how long it takes him to do the simple word problem to figure out how old I was when I started smoking it. I admit to making it extra hard because the traditional trains are not part of the word problem.

I think you are confusing the long term affects of alcohol with weed.

I read the above and said he sounds like he knows a thing or two about marijuana and then I read your next comment.

Seems marijuana has some benefits as do red wine if you don't abuse them.

Define abuse and apply that definition to a person with freewill.

    Patently untrue regarding pot.
