As you well know Wiz, 189 states plus Taiwan are parties to the NPT. The main countries remaining outside the NPT are Israel, India and Pakistan, though North Korea has moved to join them. These all have weapons programs which have come to maturity since 1970, so they cannot join the NPT without renouncing and dismantling those weapons and their weapon program. In 2008 special arrangements were agreed internationally for India, bringing it part way in.
The problem that Israel has always had is that they do not have a civilian/commercial program for the use of their Nuclear energy. And I think I am correct in stating that along with North Korea they are the only two countries in the world who's Nuclear program is for Nuclear weapons only!
So there is no way they will allow inspectors in because there is nothing to inspect! Because the inspectors would find and confirm that Israels Nuclear program has no civilian use and is 100% a nuclear weapon program.
Israel would be ordered to dismantle the program immediately and Israel, backed by the United States would say no! So anybody that questions why the United States has no credibility with its dealings on Iran, I would respectfully suggest needs their head examined!![]()
There is only two reasons for Israel to be part of the IAEA. They are espionage and sabotage. They should be given the ultimatum of ratifying the NPT or being expelled from the IAEA.
Israel suspected over Iran nuclear programme inquiry leaks
Israel is suspected of carrying out a series of leaks implicating Iran in nuclear weapons experiments in an attempt to raise international pressure on Tehran and halt its programme.
Western diplomats believe the leaks may have backfired, compromising a UN-sanctioned investigation into Iran's past nuclear activities and current aspirations.
The latest leak, published by the Associated Press (AP), purported to be an Iranian diagram showing the physics of a nuclear blast, but scientists quickly pointed out an elementary mistake that cast doubt on its significance and authenticity. An article in the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists declared: "This diagram does nothing more than indicate either slipshod analysis or an amateurish hoax."
