    Default Nats sign Dan Haren

The rich get richer: The Nats rotation is utterly loaded as Washington signs Dan Haren to a one-year deal.

If he passes the physical, he replaces EJack as the #5 starter.

    • Strassburg
    • Zimmerman

As a nats fan, not sure how I feel about it, if they can get something close to what he used to be than great, I guess the rays wanted morse and espi for shields and Rizzo said no way. In rizzo I trust.

    the rich get richer?

not with what PGA is paying them thru MASN.

I like, "the smart get better"

Haren has hip and back problems. Boston passed on him because of this. but I don't think it will be a problem.

I know your joking on this one, and it's true they get screwed, but the lerner's make PGA look like he's collecting food stamps..

I am nervous about his hip and back, but it's only a one year deal, so if it doesn't work out, they can either plug in Duke or Garcia into the #5 spot

He had a pretty rough 2012 (was on my fantasy team ), but is still a decent pickup for a team loaded with pitching.

For their 5th starter, o weird one.

He'd be the ace on the O's rotation...

maybe, but the O's questionable rotation got just as far as the Nats last Oct.

    not too shabby

that may very well be the case. but there are variables that can't just be dismissed like that.

Chen was a 1st year MLB pitcher. so you can't just say he was lucky. his 2012 season was in line with any solid #2 pitcher.

Gonzales is an x-factor as well. if 2012 is who he is, he's a solid #3, maybe #2.

the others are all fair to question.

Tillman is 25, and seems to have figured things out.
Hammel pitched better than Haren for a lot of last year before he was hurt.
Chen was a 26 year old rookie.

Gonzo was like winning the lottery, and Saunders was very good.
The other guys actually weren't that good.

That is the makings of a solid rotation, one that can compete.
