    Default Spot72's Suburban Crime Roundup

    Baltimore County—

A Baltimore County couple survived their brand new car getting hit by a shotgun slug, and police are looking for the deer hunter or hunters who fired it.
Wendy Grodnitzky's Honda has less than 100 miles on the odometer -- and a gaping hole in the side.

"It's a brand new car, not even 24 hours old. It's not even technically insured."

She would have had trouble escaping from the front passenger seat since he would have always had his eye on her.

The privilege of gun ownership needs to be revoked from the individuals responsible.

It sucks that someone shot at their car. For some reason, I find this story rather suspect, though. That's some serious bad luck.

Seriously? If that's the case, then they're in violation of the law.

I just bought a new car within the last year, and I couldn't even drive it off the lot until it was insured. My insurance agent knew about the vehicle during the process, the insurance information was provided to the dealer, and the start of coverage was the date I purchased the vehicle.

When we bought our last vehicle I was told that it was automatically covered for 30 days under our existing policy until it could be officially added.

Bottom line is that "It's not even technically insured" is a false statement.

If they are caught, sure. Not much chance of that at this point.

Default Elkridge man who killed wife 20 years ago trial is postponed

The trial of the former Elkridge man accused earlier this year of murdering his wife more than 20 years after she was reported missing has been postponed, according to state's attorney spokesman Wayne Kirwan.

Robert Jarrett Jr., 58, faces first- and second-degree murder charges after detectives found the remains of his wife, Christine Jarrett, buried under concrete in a backyard shed of the house the couple once shared in the 6000 block of Claire Drive, in Elkridge.

Default Perry Hall man charged in two fires

Fire Marshal Investigators determined that John Paul Akin, Jr., of Perry Hall doused the area near the interstate ramp with gasoline and intentionally set fire after leaving his job at the Waffle House. Akin later walked to the area of Emmorton Road and again set a small fire using newspaper in the front yard of a home.

Investigators believe that this fire was a random act and there was no connection between Akin and the home owner.

During the investigations, Akin admitted to investigators that he started the fires because of personal issues and was angry.
