    Default Blockbuster brewing?

According to Rosenthal, possible deal is J Upton to Rangers,A Cabrera from Cle to Ariz and Rangers sending M Olt and others to Cle. Also possible that TB and J Shields are in the deal as well.

see what you can do when you have a strong organization that knows how to develop talent.

    Cleveland has a strong organization?
They are trading away one of their best players because they don't have the talent.
Trade Upton is like trading Manny...after he doesn't live up to the hype.
The Rangers are giving away the farm to do this trade, if it happens.

The only difference here is that the O's aren't willing to trade their best prospects - they prefer to use them.

Using those prospects can be detrimental if performance does not meet projections. Remember when guys like Matt Riley were considered valuable?

My concern this offseason is if the O's hold on to all their young pitchers there will soon be too many arms at Bowie/Norfolk and not enough innings to benefit anyone. Gausman and Bundy will absolutely get preference but then you've got Arrieta, Britton, etc. all filling in when openings pop up. That could be counterproductive. You can only nurture so many prospects. Angelos and his crew are not the Duggars.

If you're going to trade for a young superstar AND sign him to a long-term deal then it would be foolish to not part with either Bundy or Gauseman plus Schoop and Hoes.

But since Angelos wouldn't allow that, then it's best to keep the prospects and build through the draft.
