Default Toxicology tests on Baltimore county driver in fatal crash show alcohol, painkillers

"A Dundalk woman who died after she drove her car the wrong way onto the Baltimore Beltway, striking another vehicle and killing a 3-year-old last month, had alcohol and painkillers in her blood, a police spokesman said.

Toxicology tests showed Victoria Lynn DeAngelo, 21, had a 0.18 blood alcohol content and presence of the painkiller Tramadol, said Maryland Transportation Authority Police spokesman Sgt. Jonathan Green, citing a report from the office of the chief medical examiner.

DeAngelo and 3-year-old Lily Joseven Kelley of White Marsh died as a result of the Nov. 25 crash."

Condolences to the family of the 3-year-old. Good riddance to the drunk that caused the tragedy.

This girl sounds like a stone cold alcoholic. Some people see tramadol is a painkiller and they assume that she was a pill popping junkie. That's not really the case. Tramadol is the one pill junkies usually won't touch with a 10 foot pole. Tramadol is an opioid but it's not classified as a narcotic. But there have been some reports of abuse and dependence. Tramadol is most likely to be abused by alcoholics. It's is a frugal alcoholics wet dream come true. Tramadol increases the effects alcohol. So it allows you to get more drunk on less alcohol. Depending upon how much Tramadol was in her system with that 0.18 BAC while driving on a highway. The behavior seems suicidal. It seems like a Plan A and Plan B type of suicide to ensure success. OD at high speed.

When you consider that she killed a child. I don't think anyone is going to care what her situation may or may not have been.

My nephew is Victoria's cousin. I can assure you that all involved are in mourning. This was a senseless tragedy that could have been prevented had she not made the decision that she did. Her family has to live with that fact for the rest of their lives. The mother of the three year old -- my heart bleeds for her. Very sad.

Sprightly, I only have one nagging question about this. Was Victoria ever prescribed Tramadol?

I've been reading new studies on pill addicts. What these studies have found is that many of them aren't your typical junkies at all. They started off taking the pain killers for legitimate medical purposes. But they were never able to shake the addiction that they had developed during their legitimate medical use.

What I find to be ironic with Tramadol is that they warn you not to take it with alcohol. But they also warn you that if you are an alcoholic that has been taking Tramadol not to abruptly stop drinking or taking Tramadol because of the danger of seizures. So once you develope that yin and yan of Tramadol and Alcohol. You're going to need medical help to stop it.

I don't know. I was prescribed Tramadol for pain management after an injury and it only gave me a hellish headache.

I currently have a prescription for it because of an ankle injury. It definitely makes you tired.

I attempt to steer clear of prescribed drugs, some citizens take more dosage than recommended.

As do I. Just another prescription I had filled and ended up packed up in the pharmaceutical return envelope.

I've heard that it's a construction nightmare and that the signage is bad. This was prior to the accident.

.18 bac and drugs on top of it. I really doubt the signage at the ramp would have made much difference. I don't see how she could walk, much less drive.

Another senseless, AVOIDABLE tragedy and an innocent 3-year old is dead because of it. But, hey, let's go after smokers instead, 'kay?

Further proof you can't fix stupid.

I would still like to know the results from R Delegate Dwyer's boating accident.
