A fair discussion would be how are the income levels set and how much benefit is required. I wonder about this when I'm stuck in a line behind someone paying for $497 worth of junk food and more red meat - with an independence card, than I'll eat in 10 years.
The problem is the existence/consumption subsidies/entitlements. Those need to go and never come back. The answer to 'benefit required' is zero (aka none, nada, zip, nothing).

We allow so much to go to waste that could feed the truly needy. On monday morning on my drive to work, I'll see 10-20 dead deer on the side of the road. At a conservative average of 50 lbs of meat after trimming off damage, that's a lot of lean fresh meat that could be used. And a recipient could learn to butcher that deer and learn some life skills. Hey, I can dream, right?

    'We?'

It is inappropriate in this context to conflate the individual to the collective. 'Recipients' and 'donors' should be determined on an individual basis with the latter making the uncoerced choice to provide 'benefits' to the former.

Surely if providing 'benefits' has merit then no coercion is needed. Furthermore, if the majority of people are 'kindhearted' human pet lovers and wish to minster to the 'needs' of their human pets then one should have no problem raising all sorts of voluntarily given funds.

To be fair, Walmart isn't the only company that cares more about profits than people, but they are the major player in the NOT MADE IN USA trend.
Got a link for that? I kinda doubt it. Even Costco is full of Chinese crud nowadays.

What's to keep you from calling DNR, getting approval, butchering and giving to someone?

Did the MEANING of "Ask not what my country can do for me" get lost in 52 years? Do these food stamp critters have their standards where they wouldn't take road kill?

I already do exactly that - but on a very limited scale. Sometimes I'm far from home, not in my pickup, or in good clothes. I may take one deer for every 200 that I see. I usually keep the heart for myself (and sometimes the tenderloin) and give away the rest.

I believe we give handouts as a convenience to prevent violence/social unrest. If they were hungry enough, they could catch fish, shoot small game (or take fresh roadkill) and grown their own food. There are plenty of edible wild plants (some urban too).

I know from personal experience that nothing improves marksmanship like hunger.

There is really nothing wrong with shopping at Walmart, Target, etc.

I'm not really a supporter of businesses that rely on the government to take care of their employees for them. Of course I'm also a fan of quality rather than quantity, and am rather sickened by the cellulite encrusted shoppers at those sorts of establishments.

To each his own though I suppose.

Read the article (the link I provided in the OP).
    Here's another article:

And BTW, my comments were about how Walmart and Costco treat their employess. It's night and day on most fronts, especially pay, benefits and working conditions. Costco doesn't rely on the government to provide benefots, etc.
