My question was absolutely pertinent to your statement and wasn't any deflection at all. Maybe you need to look up what deflection means. There is tons of evidence that marriage does make it better for the children but you don't want to admit what you know is the truth because you did it differently. Whether you think my question was relevant or not there was no good reason for you not to answer. Your dilemma was that if you answered honestly you would have to admit that you didn't do it the best way you could have and perhaps a "culture" that doesn't value the benefits of marriage is sick. You should be commended on raising two successful kids but your case is the exception to the rule and there are probably some things that could have been better for them if they grew up with married parents.

I hear a lot rationalizing on this thread from people who don't want to believe that divorce or single parenting is not the ideal circumstance to raise children. Apparently they don't want to feel guilty for decisions they made putting themselves ahead of the interests of their children.
