Default WPost endorses Obama, dodges his taxes

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Washington Post Co. will pay its 2013 dividends before the end of this year to try to spare investors from anticipated tax increases.

The media and education company said Friday that its dividend of $9.80 per share is payable Dec. 27 to shareholders of record as of Dec. 17. The payout is instead of regular quarterly dividends next year.

WP isn't dodging its taxes, it's allowing its shareholders to.

A company is by law required to look out for it's shareholders.

Saying that they are dodging taxes implies illegality. There is nothing illegal about it. If you are a disciple of Friedman's than it is the moral thing to do as well.

Thanks for the dictionary definition, pointdexter. I was talking about the colloquial meaning of the phrase.

Interesting. The progressives are generally real big a fans of higher taxes as long as they’re not the one’s paying them. I see Warren Buffett is a big beneficiary of this early payout. Has anyone asked his secretary what she thinks about it?

Here’s another progressive puker of an editorial by the New York Times bemoaning the fact that caps on the deductibility of state and local taxes, with the potential to exceed the limits imposed by the AMT, are apparently on the table:

LOL! Apparently they believe that it's in the best interests of everyone else to continue subsidizing their bloated state and local welfare states.
