Default 73% of all Jobs Created in Last Five Months were Government Jobs

    Saturday, December 8, 2012

While the media pants with exhilaration over a dip in the unemployment level that was created by over a half-million people giving up and dropping out of the workforce, a deep-dive into the employment numbers also reveals that it’s mainly government workers benefitting from what meager job growth we are seeing. Over the last five months, 73% of all jobs created were government jobs. Moreover, the unemployment rate for government workers plunged to 3.8% in November — which is considered full employment.

Even though deficits rule the day at every level of government, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, of the 847,000 new jobs created since June, a full 621,000 were government jobs. In November alone, 35,000 new government jobs were created.
    Hooray.

I don't have time to read the entire BLS report. Where does it reference government jobs?

From your own link, Table A-14 shows a loss of 139,000 gov't jobs from Nov 2011 to Nov 2012:

Unfortunately, the actual facts don't support the irrational hatred of the OP.

The OP can't be talking about Net job gains. The public sector has had net job losses almost every year since 2009.

Did you read the headline of this thread? Can you count to 5? Nov 2011 is NOT 5 months and has nothing to do with the thread.

Read it again, try to keep up. I'll print it again for you:

73% of all Jobs Created in Last Five Months were Government Jobs

I've underlined the important part for you.

In June, a total of 142,415,000 people were employed in the U.S, according to the BLS, including 19,938,000 who were employed by federal, state and local governments.

By November, according to data BLS released today, the total number of people employed had climbed to 143,262,000, an overall increase of 847,000 in the six months since June.

In the same five-month period since June, the number of people employed by government increased by 621,000 to 20,559,000. These 621,000 new government jobs created in the last five months equal 73.3 percent of the 847,000 new jobs created overall.

Sigh. Read the title of this thread before opening mouth and inserting foot.

Point out the lie that I posted.

If you could read the thread title and understand "5 months" (as stated clearly in the thread title) = 5 months and not "Nov 2011 to Nov 2012" as you posted, you wouldn't look so foolish trying to make your false rebuttals.

Do you consider hiring qualified civil service workers to be a bad thing?

Do you prefer hiring politically connected private contractors to do gov't work at three times the cost to taxpayers?

Who gives a flip? More cherry-picking data from the RWNJ.

Nothing in the link you provided supports your fuzzy math. Nice try

Nothing in the BLS press release you linked to supports your assertions.

    Here...

Employment in other major industries, including mining and logging, transportation and
warehousing, financial activities, and government, showed little change in November.

Sorry, I can't find the chart with the data that supports your OP. Can you provide a more specific citation? I did find your OP quote on breitbart.com (shouldn't you have linked to that?), but couldn't find any supporting information there either.

Wait, drilling down, I found this on CNS, but am unable to access the embedded links.
