    Default America's Exhausted Army....post-9/11

Time for a rest for our military men and women.

"About 6,650 Americans have died in those two wars, as have 1,390 allied personnel, Canadians prominent among them."

"More than 50,000 Americans have been wounded in battle since 9/11 — 16,000 of them so seriously that they would certainly have died had they suffered an equivalent wound in any prior conflict."

"Because the post-9/11 wars have lasted so long, soldiers have been exposed to the risks of combat again and again and again. Troops are rotated into combat zones, out of them and then back in again. One authoritative study found that the accumulating strain had inflicted post-traumatic stress disorder on as many as one-fifth of all U.S. troops who had served in the Afghanistan and Iraq theatres."

Couldn't agree more. It's wrong to continue to lose our best and brightest along with our national treasure to a losing proposition. Time to leave the Middle East entirely.

Could this leftwingers be any more obvious with their disdain and disrespect toward the brave men and women that serve our nation?

Why do leftwingers hate the military so much?

There are no "leftwingers." The only ones that "hate" the Army, i.e., fighting forces, are the generals & the pres. appointees wasting them.

And still no hearings on the idiots that put our young men and women in the line of fire. Mr. Obama, what's the matter with you?

I think they hate pointless wars that kill a lot of people that Republicans seem to like getting us into.

There is nothing wrong with him. He simply would not want to bring himself up on charges as well. Inherited or not, he increased troops in Afghanistan when he could have simply withdrawn them and let the country implode or survive on it's own. The agenda is the agenda, and it does not matter who is the CIC. Wait and see what happens now that the flags have been raised about Al-Qaeda's influence in Syria.

Or perhaps the fighting by political choice one totally unnecessary war in Iraq and the other in afghanistan that we should have been in and out in weeks or months but certainly not years.

America's military is exhausted because leaders in decision making position on funding in the DoD structure continue to funnel money to half-baked research projects that don't pan out, while finding ways to funnel money away from paying the individual service members through downsizing, downgrading of existing benefits (that have always been promised) and overtasking.

Here is one of the "think tanks" that are finding ways to stick it to the individual service member.
    http://www.americanprogress.org/issu...a-budget-deal/

They actually say some sensible things in here, but there is a lot more going on than what is said in their articles.
One of the things they wanted to do was get rid of the current retirement program for service members and create a new one that gave people a 6 year retirement, while massively cutting and redirecting retirement money to a GS style system, which touted TSP funds for all service members.

The problem is, some in the government want to treat the military like any other job, when it's not.

Guess that depends on how you define "losing". Clearly not everyone is losing. If that were the case we would not still be there.

That's funny, considering JFK took office in 1961 and the Vietnam War started in 1959. http://history1900s.about.com/od/vie...vietnamwar.htm

Hey Seth how about something not from a partisan teebagger website?

EDIT: Nevermind, you were talking about Afghanistan only. So tell me, how many Iraq war casualties under Bush? A war started on Bush's own oil agenda?
