Default Early Review of The Hobbit Not Good

Jackson may have laid three eggs this time.

Saw the first installment with my son. It was okay but could have used a little pruning. Nine hours is way too long for The Hobbit. You could read the book in less time than that. Jackson has filled in a lot of that time with non-stop, break-neck CGI effects. A lot of it is pretty good but I guess somewhere in hour two I started feeling like it was too much of a good thing, if you know what I mean? I was actually starting to get a little edgy. I probably won’t bother going to the theater for the next two installments but just wait until I can see them at home. Three plus hours per episode is just way too long to sit through, especially when there’s only about an hour’s worth of story per episode and the rest is CGI filler.

I still want to check this one out. I agree with long sits in the theater wearing on you, but certain films I like seeing at least once on the big screen. I definitely appreciate hearing other folks' views, however. Makes it easier to stay home on the ones I'm riding the fence on.
