Default 7 year old allegedly beaten to death for lying about homework, Bible reading

    Mother, stepfather charged with murder

Police in Las Vegas allege that a 7-year-old boy was beaten to death by his parents after failing to read the Bible or do his homework. Roderick "RJ" Arrington Jr., was admitted to an area hospital on Nov. 29 because he was unresponsive, according to the Las Vegas Sun. Personnel there called officers to the scene after they observed severe bruising and brain swelling, according to a police report. The boy died the following afternoon.

Police arrested the boy's mother, Dina Palmer, 27, and stepfather, Markiece Palmer, 34, and charged them with the murder of the boy. Investigators said that Palmer "stood by and let her husband" shake and beat the boy to death.
    School had reported abuse

Hours before 7-year-old Roderick "RJ" Arrington was beaten into a coma last week, officials at his school called the child welfare hotline to report suspicions of abuse at the boy's home. But social workers never responded to Roundy Elementary on Nov. 28, and RJ went home. That was his last day of school.

That night, Las Vegas police said, the boy was severely beaten. He was hospitalized the next day and died Nov. 30, his brain swollen and his body riddled with open wounds and bruises from being whipped and pummeled.
According the the police report, his mother found him unresponsive in bed the day after the beating and called her pastor first, then an ambulance.

Markiece Palmer found the breathing, but unresponsive, boy in his bed between 6 and 6:45 a.m. on Thursday, the report said. Dina Palmer called their pastor, who told them to call an ambulance.

The mother called 911 at about 8 a.m., a little more than an hour after the stepfather found the boy unresponsive in bed, the report said.
Their pastor had to tell them to call an ambulance, and then it took an hour or two from the time the boy was found unresponsive?

Can we keep politics out of this?

From my link in post #3

The boy had recently moved from Illinois where he lived with his father to Las Vegas, where his mother and her husband lived.

    bmorepunk--

The difference between the Facebook and booking pictures of the mother--I wouldn't know they were the same person.

    Mom--

Because politics colors everything for some people.

I don't think we can get away from the religious aspects of this story, but for now we don't know the political leanings of the couple.

I think it has more to do with the step father not accepting his wife's child.

Poor little guy. He didn't have a chance with a weak willed mother and a domineering, sadistic male figure in his life. This guy may have used "religion" to justify his actions but too many do it just because they can.

    No, we cannot.

Because if this were not a Christian family, but oh let's say as a purely theoretical example, a Muslim family, then we would hear cries of racism, bigotry, and whatever other wording Leftist use for selective anger.

From the link in post #3

Police recovered a broken broom stick with what appears to be blood, belts, cords, spatulas and bloodied clothes from a warrant search of the Palmer residence, the report said.
