    Default Yesterday's Team...Yesteryear's Coaches

Just thinking about how we blew our real (and only) opportunity to win it all last year, by sloppy coaching and poor schemes, along with lousy execution at the end. We should have been playing at home of course, not in New England, and still had every chance to blow the Patriots out even in their own stadium...but we clammed up, went conservative, and had to try to pull it out at the end...and we all know how that went. I think we had the talent and motivation to win it all last year, but unfortunately, not the coaching.

Well, little has changed this year, except for a slight deterioration in our talent mix, and some difficult player injuries...which means we are not going to have any sort of clean path to a deep playoff run. Of course, we do still have the same basic coaching staff, but with the loss of Pagano, and replacement by Dean Pees we have taken several giant steps backward on defensive scheming and defensive 'attitude'...which now matches up nicely with our offensive coaching style.

Our head coach, while being a good motivator, and trainer clearly does not have a handle on what needs to be fixed, or how to fix it. So we will continue on, squandering games, talent, and fan emotion, until we finally crash and burn and have to take a long, objective look at our leadership/coaching staff. We have been stuck in a 'time warp' this year, even more so than last year, with coordinators that produce bland, one-dimensional schemes, and do not know how to 'out-smart', nor out-execute' their adversaries. It often looks like another brand of football that we are playing, as compared to the better NFL teams. We have won games in spite of our coaching, and because of our talent and the players' belief in winning. That can only take you so far.

Let's hope, for all our fans sakes, that we get the kind of coaching help next year that the players deserve, and the fans have been begging for. Of course, what the heck do we know.....we are just fans. We had better leave it to the 'experts' to find the answers....right John? Hey...John....Hello....have you figured it out yet? I thought you have been working on that every week??? We poor, clueless fans are just waiting for the answers...........from you guys...the self proclaimed 'experts'!

Does anybody know where Steve went? Ozzie? Hello???

We all know that Ozzie and the Biscuit won't say anything until after the season at the State of the Ravens presser. But you have to believe that the Biscuit is losing his mind!

If and that is a BIG IF the Ravens manage to slither into the playoffs and then are quickly dispatched you can take it to the bank that changes will be made to the coaching staff.

My hope would be Cam is canned and Norv Turner is available to bring in. My hope is that Pees is also canned and we'll see who is available perhaps Jack Del Rio or a former Ravens D coach that really understands how the Ravens want to play defense.

It's not a big "if" at all for the Ravens to get into the playoffs. In fact, it's almost impossible for them NOT to get into the playoffs! If they don't win the AFC North, they'll get in as a wild card, even if they lose out. Do the math.

"Where has all the defense gone, long time passing,
Where has all the defense gone, long long time ago,
Where has all the defense gone, 52 and the rest ain't gettin' it done,
Where has all the defense gone, long time long time ago."

Doesn't matter much if they do make it in if they go one and done now does it?

Truthfully, you put Ray, Suggs, and the starting corners out there, and Ravens win the last 2 games...

Ray's on field 'coaching' might be the biggest impact of him being out.
