He is the scap goat. Flacco ruined his career.IMO Cam didnt fumble and throw a pick yesterday and fumble vs the steelers. My guess is Cam said something to Harabaugh that he didn't like.

they were up 21-14 at half. instead of ball control/run the clock out in the second half, they went back to the "vanilla spread" where everyone is covered again and Flacco has to eat the ball.

Why this man never learned to RUN THE BALL WITH A LEAD is beyond me.

I applaud the Ravens leadership for making the move now in an attempt to salvage some semblence home field in the playoffs, instead of worrying about hurt feelings and riding it out until an eventual loss on the road in the playoffs.

It renews my beleif in the Ravens leadership.

If Flacco is still very inconsitent from one game to the next or even one half to the next, then he is just a donkey who just likes to whine.
Its going to take some time, new leadership, and some work to polish up Joe's rough spots. Its only going to get better for Joe going forward, if we find a quality coordinator. If Joe has ongoing struggles this season, it has no reflection on getting rid of Cam...which has been YEARS overdue! OCF is right on the mark in his assessments of this team. But we still need to work through the changes.......and hopefully next year can be a fresh start.

I'm thinking the logic here is all about Flacco. I wonder if they still don't know what to do with Flacco because of his inconsistincies and Cam was just the scapegoat to see if Flacco can all of the sudden turn it on under a different OC. If He flourishes under a different OC then that will go a long way towards a huge contract here in Baltimore. If he still struggles, then maybe he will not get the huge contract he desires.

The inconsistency was just too consistent.

Nothing for 55 minutes at SD, then 10 points in the last 5. Great first half against the Skins, then nothing for the next 23 minutes. Too many times the offense virtually failed to participate in a whole half / three-quarters of a game. The disappearance of Ray Rice in the offense at times. The second and third quarter at CLE. On and on. There are problems on the O line to be sure, but enough was enough. The WRs might have their pros and cons, but there are few quick slant patterns, no quick routes, very few WR screens, very few RB screens (with Ray Rice!), etc. The route tree is just too vanilla, and probably too deep too often given the quality of the O line.

My guess is that the way they ended the first half yesterday was probably the last straw when combined with the loss. It seemed fairly apparent on the broadcast that Harbaugh was surprised / ticked off with the "attack" on that last drive... even with two TOs and a strong-legged kicker on the sideline. Plus Gannon made a comment on yesterday's broadcast that, overlooked by most, probably alarmed the higher-ups... something about Flacco suggesting a new offensive philosophy was needed (I don't remember the exact wording, but that was the gist of it).

What kind of change Caldwell can muster in the final weeks remains to be seen.

Cam's career is not ruined imo. I think he will get picked up by another team next year.

Hate mid season firing like this especially at the end of the year.

It's done but nothing is going to change. I've played football. The talent is what it is on the OL in particular. There is a reason why it takes time to instill new plays into a playbook. Even if Caldwell uses more plays in the playbook they haven't run them. It isn't as simple as just putting a new guy in and suddenly everything changes. If that were the case we'd see this all the time. I'm happy Cam is gone but not pleased with the process. I certainly don't want Caldwell being our OC next season when better proven guys will be on the market. A team that wants to win now or soon will/should go with established leadership in the OC and DC positions IMO

Cam also didn't tell Oher to play matador at LT. That strip sack was identical to what Suggs did to Brady early in that playoff game in '09, but nobody blamed Brady for not "feeling the rush" from his blind side. But today we're blaming Flacco for it.

Cam did however tell Oher to start at LT.

The logic? You're having trouble following the logic? Well, here...see if this helps:

THE SEASON WOULD HAVE BEEN LOST HAD CAMERON REMAINED! That's the logic. Now, at least there's a HOPE that things can be turned around. The D isn't going to win anything for the Ravens in the post season, so it's up to the O. And with an untied Joe at the helm, I think there's enough fire power there, WHEN USED PROPERLY, to allow this team to beat ANYONE. The Ravens WILL be in the post season, so things are just beginning now. Joe and Jim have an established relationship, so you BUILD on that. It's perfectly logical to me. Why WASTE another entire year's production just waiting til the end of the season to fire Cameron? SHOULD it have been done 2 years ago? Sure. It this a "better late than never" scenario/logic? Absolutely! THAT'S the logic.

shoulda kept him on at least till theyre one-and-done in the playoffs. dumping either coordinater with weeks still left on the schedule has never turned a team around completely. just signals to everyone else that youre giving up on your playoff hopes.

Maybe now we will see BMcK back at LT and big 74 on the right side?

Seems like McKinney has been 'saved' for a playoff run or something??

    anyone??

I had some buddies over to watch theSteelers get beat and out coached by a lame duck yesterday. Anyhow, after seeing the final score of the Redskins beating the Ravens my one buddy said "if the Ravens get rid of Cameron and hire a good signal caller the rest of the AFC North is screwed" Prophetic.
