I wonder if Joe is upset by this move.
Uhm...my friend...not that I'm not welcoming your post...but if you go back and check...I didn't direct that particular post to you...I directed it to rharris1986.
He's been an outspoken critic of Cameron both here AND at 24x7. So I was just letting him know that I was giving him props for his staunch support for having Cameron canned for quite some time now. And he's taken a TON of chit from the 24x7 homers over it. Now, that it's happened BEFORE the end of the season, he can abandon his "I'd like to see the Ravens LOSE OUT so that Cameron can finally get the ax". That tack, in particular, has caused him a ton of grief.
My days in purgatory are over. The Ravens have FINALLY seen the light and Cam has gone.
You will see a different Ravens offense next Sunday - one that will go toe to toe with Peyton - and the Ravens will win the game.
I'm crossing my fingers for the rest of this year - but I think the Ravens best years are about to start.
I have it from a good source that this is how it went down:
“Hello.”
“Hi Joe, this is Steve.”
“Steve who?”
“You know, the owner, your boss.”
“Oh, hi Mr. Bisciotti. What’s up?’
“Joe, I sense that things aren’t quite right between you and coach Cameron. Is there a problem?”
“Well, uh, (he stammers) not sure what you mean Mr. Bisciotti.”
“Steve will do just fine Joe. I think you do. I just wanted to call you so you heard it here first. I just fired Cameron."
“What about my contract, Steve?”
Click, phone goes dead.
Well, this is how a defense goes from 3 to 24:
Lose 4 out of your best 5 linebackers to injury or free agency.
Lose one of your better pass rushers to free agency. Lose another promising new guy to injury. Have the star DL miss time and play hurt the rest of the time.
Lose both backup safeties to free agency. Have your star free safety play perpetually injured.
Lose your best (far and away) CB to injury.
Have all your star players that are past their prime be one year older without too much talented new blood (with apologies to Upshaw and Jones) to offset that.
Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not happy with how the defense has performed but the above list is a lot for any coordinator to overcome. I don't think you can lay it all on Pees. Some of it was just horrible luck. Ozzie gets some blame here too.
Was never onboard with the Pees hiring to begin with since I felt there were other DC's available that would have been better for the position. With that being said I am in complete agreement with this post.
The Defense has been consistently losing talent for the past few seasons and it hasn't been an issue until now since the drafts have usually produced quality players. These past few seasons Ozzie has screwed the pooch in terms of adding quality talent to the Defense. On that side of the ball it's been a combination of aging stars, losses through FA and bad drafting that has lead to where they are now.Throw in the injury factor on top of that they are screwed.
The only way out is by cutting some high priced dead weight from their cap next offseason and concentrating those cap dollars into adding quality young talent through FA and the draft.
Not sad to see Cam go in the least it's been a long time coming, but until Harbaugh pulls his head out his rectum nothing is going to change.
As fans we really don't know the full story on how and who decided to fire Cam.
Was it the owner, did OZ go to the owner, did Harbaugh start the process?
To me it is a public embarrassment for Harbaugh to have his offensive coordinator fired this late in the season.
As head coach, Harbaugh should have had Cam under control.
Was Harbaugh really satisfied with Cam's performance?
Awwwww. I think it is sweet to come to your friend's defense like that. I'll teach you a little something. If you want to come to someone's defense in the future, you might want to defend him with something that is close to what I called him out for. Otherwise you make yourself look like a donkey. Here I'll give you an example:
I called out your little friend for putting up erroneous facts like I normally do with you. You might want to come back with "I looked it up and my little friend is right. You need to check YOUR facts you idiot!" Instead, you come up with your old "join date" comment. Is that the best you can come up with? My join date, lol. Did you really think you got me by posting about my join date? You still haven't told us the differences in the play calling between home and away games. You seen the differences. Just tell us. The "stop stalking me" and "we don't have to worry about it now" replies are so old. I'm calling you out every single time you post stupid asinine crap like that every single time. You better think twice before you post stupid crap like "I see the differences between the play calling between home and away games..."
