Default 30 ft tall Menorah (Hanukkah) in McKeldin Park, Baltimore ???

    http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/mar...0,124229.story

I'm assuming McKeldin Park is city-owned land. What is such a religious symbol--as a Jewish Menorah--doing on city property? This should be moved immediately.

It was there last year too. There's no Christmas decorations on city land... not even a santa's work shop across the street? Get over it, there is a lot of Jewish people in this city.

Would you be in favor of a nativity scene on city property? Lots of Christians in the City, you know.

The park in the median on St. Paul has Christmas decorations. Isn't that city property?

    Who cares anyway?

What kind of Christmas decorations? A tree is not a religious symbol like a Nativity scene or Menorah.

Well, you've got a rabbi lighting the menorah in McKeldin Park. That act borders on being a religious observance, let alone a decoration.

Angels are not Christian symbols. Judaism and Islam also mention them in the Old Testament and Koran. A Menorah is distinctly a Jewish religious symbol. Let someone try to put a Nativity scene next to it and only then will the wailing about separation of Church and State and the use of public land for religious purposes start. Christians by now are used to the double standard hypocrisy this time of year.

The Occupy Wall Street Protestors were evicted shortly before the menorah went up last year.

I'm wondering if the angels are sponsored by Mercy Hospital, where they can be found. Mercy is a Catholic hospital and angels are a religious symbol of Christmas.

Do you also wonder who is responsible for putting up the Menorah which is a Jewish religious symbol for Hannukah, the festival of lights or doesn' t that matter?

    Omaha--

What I'm saying I'm wondering if the city allows private entities to put up such displays on public property.

There are a lot of displays in Preston Gardens (200 and 300 blocks St. Paul Place), so I wonder if any of them are religious.
