The University of MD has to sign Dwayne Morgan at all costs! He has the potential to be a transcendant player for the Terps like Len Bias & Walt Williams! Morgan, Maurice White & Tevon Saddler led SFA to a win over Travis TX. PG Andrew Harrison didn't play but his twin, Aaron, led a 3pt shooting barrage by the Texans.

Saw some Monday night basketball at CHC. The Cardinals beat the Mt Carmel Cougars by about 13 points. The game was close for 3.5 quarters and the the Cards went on a run to put the game out of reach. Calvert Hall was missing SR guard Wesley Blackwell and JR forward Erik Evans but still had an inspired effort.
The starting five of Drew Edwards, Sean Mayberry, Marlon Hynson, eastern shore transplant Evan Phoenix and New Town transfer Chris Wallace played extremely well together. Sixth man Lawrence Cager and 3pt specialist Denny Grace were both strong off the bench.
CHC should be in the Sun's Top 15 instead of Lake Clifton and Randallstown. They should at least be in the teams to watch. Watch out for this team later in the season & next year. SFA & MSJ are clearly the cream of the BCL/MIAA this year but the Hall is building something special with talented underclassmen on the JV & varsity. Unlike Gilman, who the Hall already beat, Calvert Hall won't have to wait two seasons to be good.
Next up: City College vs Old Mill on Wednesday.
So did Gilman football. I know you're busy in LA & London but you got to watch other teams than Gilman. Randallstown has one player and Lake Clifton is living off last season's team. Masonville Cove is 15th for God's sake. CHC would beat those three teams and your Gilman team anytime and anyplace. Stop drinking that B-conference blue kook-aid.
Hell one of the top 5 teams in the MIAA is a B conference team(Palotti). Gilman has 2 players in Locksley and Ben Grace who can play with anybody. CHC definitely has some talent, that's not even a question. Once Locksley gets his legs, he's going to be trouble. CHC had a hard time with him early in the season, he would give them the blues. I saw video of that dunk he had against your boys, it was nasty!
I'm going to definitely make it to some games. Would want to see SFA play MSJ.
That was a good win for CH tonight but that Glenelg Country loss hurts them in the rankings. I haven't seen Lake but I hear that they are small this year so we'll see. Randallstown has some size but I think CH could play with them.
From what I've seen Lake is too high and Forest Park is too low in the the Sun poll. It's still early but things are starting to shake out a little bit.
He doesn't even start in football or Basketball. Gilman has 3 starters right off the football field and guys that actually played a lot for Gilman.
And you said CHC sucked last year but they are what, 5-4 this year. That's not great either. Gilman is young this year, this is a total rebuilding year for them. They only return one starter in Ben Grace. They will be fine by years end.
Randallstown has size but I don't think they're a top 15 team either. The City score is misleading because City was up by double digits most of the game and the final score looked close because of some garbage time baskets by Randallstown especially an uncontested 3 at the buzzer and on top of that City played a bad game with a lot of turnovers. Woodlawn looks even worse than Randallstown though. It's too bad because area basketball was really rolling when the Liberty Rd. corridor was at it's height.
I still think Milford Mill and City are the 2 best teams in the 3a period and the north is probably going to come down to who has homecourt advantage. I give Milford Mill the edge because they aren't going to get beat in their league whereas City will probably take on a few losses. Don't sleep on Digital though because they have a tough scrappy team that could definitely pull an upset if you're not on your game.
I've never had a problem with Coach Wade's x's and o's but it was his "in your face" coaching style that rubbed some kids the wrong way and led to some defections. He seems to be calmer this year but I don't think he'll ever completely change. Kids today are a lot less responsive to that Bobby Knight style of coaching but this group seems to be fine with him.
It's a shame because I know that's why Dwayne Morgan left for St. Frances and with him City might be top 5 in the state this year, especially if you throw Crosby in there too. Coach Daniel's talent is still at City and the jv has some ballers too so City will be fine for a few years to come. If Wade keeps a good relationship going with these kids I think this team will be fine.
Milford beat New Town tonight 62-46. Millers have played pretty well since their loss to Bowie last week. They need to cut down on the silly turnovers and run better halfcourt offense. They don't play well when teams slow the game down and force them to run sets.
New Town has some talent. I can see this team getting progressively better as the year goes on and having a shot at winning the County 1A/2A division.
Milford should have no problem winning the 3A/4A division as they go for their 5th straight County Championship. I'm hearing Dulaney may be a dark horse and that Woodlawn may be worse than last year. That program hasn't been a factor since Eddie Green bolted for Gilman.
City beat Old Mill 69-45. Not a lot to say about this one. I still think City hasn't played their best game yet. Too many fouls tonight but they did play good defense.
St Joe looked really good as a unit against CHC. Great ball movement and all 5 positions are a threat to score anywhere on the court. Wallace had a really strong performance for CHC as well. Edwards played too aggressive and was in foul trouble throughout. Wesley had a great stroke tonight. However, Booth stole the show with 6 or 7 3's and 2 or 3 dunks
Eleanor Roosevelt blew out City College 85-65 at the Old Mill tournament today. City has a lot of talent but they were very undisciplined. ER plays Dunbar next month in Baltimore at that Basketball Academy thing.
