St Frances fell to Lower Merion 73-62 last night at the Kobe Bryant Classic. From reading the article, it sounds like St Frances had no answer for Lower Merion's post players who are 6-8 and 6-7 respectively. The 6-7 kid has already committed to Syracuse. He had 25 and 12 for LM and another guard scored 24 points. It was mentioned in the article that LM scouted St Frances and noticed their transition defense was bad. How does a team in Philly get to scout a team 90 mins away?

Why wouldn't you scout from Philly? It's an hour and 15 mins away. Lower Merion is suppose to be very good this year, they obviously have a top notch coaching staff. It's a quick drive down 95 to watch St. Frances play and sounds like it was a coaching advantage that won the game.

I will keep my comments on commending Roosevelt because there's a lot that I saw from City that wasn't good. Roosevelt was as good as advertised in coming into this game as the no. 6 ranked team in the state. They played well together and look like they'll be a big factor in the 4a playoffs.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with it. I just know that during a basketball season, time is limited. And your right, its not far at all. More power to them for doing it!!

The 4A is more wide open this year than I can remember. There's about 5 or 6 teams that you could make a case for to win it.

Even with the scouting advantage, St. Frances needs Dwayne Morgan to show up in these big games. He can't score 6 points in a prime time game like that. He needs to show that he's an elite talent all the time, the knock has always been that he doesn't show up all the time. Mo White always brings it and Kurk Lee is becoming a big time PG. Morgan is the X factor.

Good win for Milford yesterday at the Jameer Nelson Classic in Philly knocking previously unbeaten Penn Wood 71-46.

Millers will put their 61-game winning streak versus Baltimore County opponents on the line this coming Wednesday as they travel to arch-rival Randallstown who Milford beat twice last year, including a 31 point win in the County Championship game.

1 vs. 2 tonight. Should be entertaining. I'll be there.

Milford comes from as many as 12 down to beat Randallstown 75-67. Millers winning streak against County opponents now stands at 71.

Who won the MSJ/St Frances game?

Was at the showdown at SFA today. SFA led most of the way until a furious comeback had MSJ up by 8 or 9 points late in the 3rd quarter. SFA went on a run in the 4th quarter and held on to a 1 point win in BCL/MIAA action.

Tevin Sandler was a beast down low. MSJ is a perimeter oriented team and couldn't stand up to the pounding on the boards. Maurice White had a good game but the best player on the floor for SFA was Dwayne Morgan.

Morgan showed all facets of his game. He hit 2-3 3 pointers, hit the mid range jump shot, snatched rebounds and led the break several times. The only thing missing from his repertoire was a vicious dunk.

Kameron Williams had a stellar game but missed the game winning half-court jumper at the end. Phil Booth struggled but #10 & #15 had good games in supporting roles for MSJ.

Tom Crean (Indiana) & Mark Turgeon (Maryland) were in the house. Both coaches were there to see Booth & Morgan. However, I know Turgeon regrets going all-in after the Harrison Twins instead of locking down Kameron Williams. That kid will definitely play at Ohio State and make a huge impact when it's all said and done.

Doesn't really surprise me that SFA pounded MSJ on the boards. Lavon Long's transfer to Oakland Mills really took away MSJ's toughness down low. Gaels need Williams AND Booth to play well to beat the top tier teams as proof by the Spalding game where Booth had 32 but Williams only scored 14. MSJ is now behind SFA by 2 games in the league....and the schedule doesn't get any easier as John Carroll visits Irvington tomorrow night.

With all that being said, I fully expect these two teams to play 3 more times this season.

Dunbar beat Patterson 47-45. Dunbar hit 2 free throws with 3.8 seconds left in regulation to go up by two. Patterson comes down and hits a basket at the buzzer but the refs ruled it no good. I'm slightly surprised the game was so low scoring.

Good game between MSJ and Poly tonight with MSJ holding on for a 3 pt. win. Poly kept fighting back from double digit deficits but their horrible free throw shooting turned out to be the difference. The star of the game was Kameron Williams who must have dropped close to 30.

8:00pm Riverdale Baptist vs. Dunbar (B) presented by State Farm

At first glance I was not too enthused about this year's Basketball Academy lineup. Outside of the city teams, Eleanor Roosevelt & Milford Mill both have good records this season and should make some noise in College Park this March. I don't know how good Randallstown really is. However, Riverdale Baptist & Largo will probably matchup well with their Baltimore City Division I opponents. IMO, the marquee games will be Dunbar vs Largo on day 2 & Milford Mill vs Edmondson on day 3.

Why is Dunbar playing Largo? Largo is 5-5 and have a couple of bad losses on their schedule but yet are in the marquee game of the Basketball Academy. Dunbar should be playing Roosevelt, IMO. Also, why is Woodlawn in this event? They've won ONE game all year!!

Randallstown can't seem to finish. They had 4th quarter leads against City, Lake Clifton, and Milford and loss all three games. They have decent talent. The Wilson kid on transferred from Owings Mills has made the team alot better but he's their only true ball handler and the only one who can really create his own shot.

Matchups are starting to look better but still a weak lineup. That MM/Edm game might be the best one with the battle of backcourts. Randallstown gets another crack at City, but they need to get this one, underachieving so far. You would never think that Wlawn and Rtown used to come in town and beat the city teams regularly not too long ago, but MM has taken the mantle. I would rather see Dulaney than Woodlawn this year, but I think they owed Wlawn a spot because they haven't been in it recently. Any word on what Kent County has.

I agree that Dulaney should've been in over Woodlawn. I would've liked to see MSJ or St Frances in this event and matched up against Dunbar or Edmondson.

The Sat. evening matchups look really good. Riverdale Baptist is going to be a tough game for everyone. They could have done better than Potomac, Largo and Woodlawn. It would have been nice to see atleast one of the MIAA teams playing in this.

The girls' matchups look really good.
